930 SPX Wood Furniture. Should I?

Hey all,

I am the very satisfied owner of a Mossberg 930 SPX and I am at the crossroads of deciding what route I want to take with "modding" the weapon.

Should I keep the PG stock I have currently and get a "tacticool" shell carrier and sh*t?
Or should I order some wood furniture and keep it classy?
I would still mount a simple light mount on it since it's my primary HD weapon, but I wouldn't get any other cluttered accessories on it if I opted for the wood.

What do you guys think?

I'd usually always go with the wood, but that color wood isn't attractive at all.

Yes, sez I. But I get a lot of crap for my 590 marinecote with wood. I don't let it bother me. I dig it.

I'd do either a lighter or a redder stain on that one up there, though.

Here's mine

If you can find wood like mine, I say go for it:

On that gun, stay plastic. It is workhorse, not a showhorse and dressing it up won't change that.

I prefer wood. For a number of reasons having little to do with tradition. Or looks.

Wood's easier to modify, to improve fit and/or handling.

Wood tends to be quieter when tapped, poked, dinged or banged on.

Wood feels less cold at 6 AM in a goose blind with a Norther at your back or 20 feet up a tree during late deer season.

And often it's pretty.....

I say go for it. Here's my 590 with wood instead of black plastic:

Dafitch, I've never seen one with wood furnature before, looks great.

OP, I do kind of like the wood on that 930. I think another option is only having a wood butt stock and leave the black forearm. I've kind of always liked that look on some rifles.

Nope.
I like it the way it is with the synthetic stocks.
That's how it was designed and I'd leave it alone.
Maybe tacti-cool it up a little with a light, bayonet, maybe a rail system, etc...
It's a tactical gun. Don't ruin it.

If you want wood, that's fine. I think it's pretty on some guns.
But I'd choose a different gun like an 870 or something for that.
IMHO

Yep.
+1

I'd never put wood on a Benelli M1, 2 or 3 Super 90 either for the same reason.
It's just not right.

I like the look of wood on a shotgun. I also hate pistol grips on a shotgun. Id go for it personally.
