Wow, $50 per gun?
I think I should start my own "buyback" program. Most of the guns would have to be worth at least $50 wouldn't they? If not, someone would certainly turn in some that are worth $hundreds.
Does the church have to have an FFL to do such a thing?

My thoughts exactly Michigander. Sounds like a real "we care" con job. Now if people would have came forth with 150 rusted solid .25 Lorcins it might have been a deal.

So can I trade my XM15E2S A1 in for a select-fire M4A3, right?
Right?

Going to have to start up a church and encourage the members to turn in their guns too.
Better make sure the Church of St. Browning has a vault and indoor range downstairs.

I wouldn't have expected this in Texas or anywhere down soulth for that matter.
I remember reading in the Bible that Jesus told his discipils to have swords, Sell
their cloaks or robes to get a sword if they didn't have one. Does this mean that
Chirsterns should own a rifle and handgun?

Well, perhaps nobody here cares much, but just in case you wonder what Pastor Bruce Buchanan looks like you may find a picture of him here at:
http://www.austincollege.edu/visitors/welcome/news/winkler.html
You'll find his pic just below that of Henry Winkler. He looks like a real dork. :barf: I believe most felons would agree that he looks like easy prey!!

How can a Christian tell people to turn in their arms. I guess he missed the verse about "he who has no sword, let him sell his cloack and buy one."

Yes, see Luke 22:36. It plainly establishes that the ownership and use of arms in self defense is perfectly in keeping with Christ's teachings.
Some Amish might say that only actual swords are permitted since firearms aren't mentioned in the Bible, but most people would say it covers personal arms equivalent to those carried by uniformed soldiers in the same way that the 2nd Amendment embodies the same concept. In fact most Amish homes have rifles and shotguns for hunting.

I'm old enough to remember this piece of TV trivia: in the first season of
"Happy Days," (1975) The Fonz rode a Harley in the "Opening Titles." In subsequent seasons, he rode a Triumph 500 - Not a bad bike, but NOT a Hawg - Word is, Mr Winkler had difficulty handling/balancing the Pan- head Harley:uhoh: ......NOW.....he aligns himself with a gun "buy back"? The Fonz would not approve....I have to imagine Fonzie carried a .38 snubbie in his black leather jacket:neener:

The Presbyterian church had taken the stance against guns a while ago.
I guess saving souls doesn't take up enough of their time.

Guns are so unsafe:confused: , Then why do they want armed representatives of the government there? (Maybe they are going to try to buy guns from the police too?)
The church is aiming to buyback about 150 guns. The Valentine's Day celebration will be overseen by armed police.

So, I turn in my gun, which can offer years of protection, for $50, so I can buy a dozen roses for my sweetie. Lack of foresight if you ask me. I guess you can scare the home invasion thugs with some thorned stalks!
Organized religion needs to pull its head out of its nether regions. They, like the sheeple, get a free ride on us armed folks. Their freedoms are ultimately guaranteed by us armed folks. Do they not see the slow enstranglement of their free practice through the "separation" argument and the "establishment" clause?

That's probably Preacherman's plot...is he expanding his collection?

I didn't know they made foot-wide paint brushes. A lot of sects of "organized religion" encourage being armed. Some even come out for self-reliance. Saying that all religious orgs feel this way is similar to saying all cops are corrupt anti-gun psychos who like handcuffing immagrints to toilets and sodomizing them with broomsticks. It is inaccurate and offensive.

Balog,
My apologies. My brush was too wide. I was referring to the left wing orgs that go down and bow to Castro every now and again.

Let me go ahead and publicize here..
I wil be more than happy to pay $60 a piece per gun (That's 20% more than the church!!)
and any gun older than year 2000, I'll be more than happy to pay $75 :D
I'm generous like that ;)
I know quite a few people who have left quite a few churches because of the sheeple stance they have taken as of late..
