I have ordered a new savage 12fv from my local gun dealer and was trying to get a head start on some loads for it, I should be able to shoot it in about a week or so. I've searched for information for the 64gr winchester sp bullet and couldn't find any info on it for BLC2 powder. I have an 8lb jug of it cause I reload .308 also and it really likes it. I've loaded some for testing from 40gr to 55gr, some sp, some v-max, some nosler ballistic tip boat tail, some fmj., some 62gr fmjbt, and now I'm on the 64gr sp. I have a speer #13 and a lyman reloading manual but they don't show 64gr bullets, 62 & 63 but no 64s. Am I ok to use the info and just work from there or do you guys have any pet loads for the 64gr bullets. Should I buy a different powder for heavier bullets? I think I'll run out of twist B-4 I get too big as the savage shows a 1-9 twist. Would I really gain very much in the way of a longer range for coyotes or should I stick with the 55-60 grainers? I hunt in a river bottom area and 300yd shots would be possible but most will be around 200yds. Any info would be appreaciated cause the less I have to TEST the more I can SHOOT.... Factory Ammo is not an option....

Starting load data for 62-63 grain bullets should be a fine place to start. You can work up from there. I have NO experience with coyotes but I would think bullets in the 50-55 range would be best.

A 1-in-9 twist is fine for 62-65 grain bullets.
I have to use 45-55 grain bullets in my 700VS because the twist is 1:14, as best I can remember.
BL-C (2) powder is excellent in .223 with 62+ grain bullets, one of my older loads was with 69g match-kings and ballC. (I think, it was a very long time ago.) This was in an older long action savage. (A 112, maybe.)

I swear they made a blitz-king or match-king in 62 grain weight, though I can't find it on their website.
Maybe I'm just getting scenile.
