Not sure why this is in the Handguns:Autoloaders section but I have an early '70s S&W Model 34 with a 4" barrel. Bought it LNIB last year, primarily for a friend of mine to train with as she had never shot a handgun before. Perfect choice for what I had in mind but doubt if I or anyone else would ever use it in a CCW role.

Got a Colt MK III and love it. As far as CC, I don't see me ever doing that with an .22 lr unless it is my last choice.

1. New-ish 4" 10-shot S&W 617 k-frame
2. Vintage 5-screw 6" 6-shot S&W K-22 Masterpiece (a "pre-17")

How do you like it?
I love them both. My 617 is very versatile, and my most-shot gun. The trigger on my K-22 is butter smooth. Both are quite accurate.

Anyone CC one?
No. They're not quite that versatile. ;)

H&R 999 Sportsman with 6" barrel

Great shooter even with its heavy SA trigger. It is capable of DA, obviously, but I don't shoot it that way hardly ever.

This gun is not even a thought for concealed carry for me.

Can't upload pics at the moment, but it looks like many of these.

I had an old, used 6 inch S&W K-22 that I stupidly traded off. Someday I'll by another if I find one that isn't priced sky high. I currently have a 4 inch stainless Taurus 94 that I regreted buying at first but after a trip back to the factory for warranty repair and clipping a coil off the main spring it is slowly starting to grow on me. It doesn't shoot too bad, although not like I remember the Smith used to. I like the size, the SS, the single action trigger and the grips. The things I don't like are the still somewhat heavy dbl action trigger and the needlessly heavy under-barrel lug. It regularly does a servicable job as my "walk around the property", "campgun" .22 One of my favorite things about it is the 9 shot capacity. I can take a few shots at whatever targets or critters present themselves along the way and still not walk home with an empty gun, without carrying any extra cartridges. I have other 22 handguns but that is currently my only D/A 22 revolver. Even if I buy another S&W K22 I think I'll keep the Taurus. I don't CC this gun as I have others that offer lots more power for the weight and bulk.

Ive got a Ruger LCR-22 and I like it alot. 8 shot, very accurate, and its got an 1 7/8" barrel. I was shocked how accurate it is. I bought it for my wife because she has limited strength in her hands and will not fire anything larger than a 22, so a 22 is better than a stick... I have not carried it, and will not, because I have larger, dependable weapons for that... Its the top one. The bottom is a 357.

I've got a nickle 34 and a 5 screw pre 17 K22 love them both have carried them both but I still usually have a 38 in my pocket. Although the K22 was the main defensive pistol of it's first owner who worked on the railroad in the late 20s he carried it in his bib overalls.

I have a mid-50s K-22 that I got for one of the Grand-kids who is a lefty.

Its really been difficult to let it go just yet.

We're seperated by about 300 miles, so we don't spend as much time together as I'd like. The K-22 will not change hands w/o sufficient instruction. Priorities of a teen change rapidly. Catch-22.

I have a few better rimfire revolvers and have shot most.

I am in general a S&W guy but my K-22 falls way behind my Korth.

no pictures to post, but -

a pair of 6" S&W k-17s
one Taurus 6" model 96
one 6" S&W k-48 WMR
one j-frame S&W 4" model 63
one j-frame S&W 4" model 651 WMR
a steel frame High Standard Double-Nine, both cylinders
(and, as a sidenote, a High Standard DA-22 derringer)

and four 22 rimfire autoloaders, just to keep 'em company, of course
(10" bull barrel Ruger MKII, 6 7/8" Ruger MKIII, 6" AMT Automag II WMR, and S&W 622)

adding a nice Ruger Single-Six or Browning Buckmark wouldn't hurt my feelings none, but at least my buddies let me shoot theirs
(between us all we cover most of the 22 rimfire handguns commonly found in any well stocked gun shop, including Taurus, Walther, Berretta... and similar diversity in rimfire rifles)

rimfires, a family affair :)
(but I do love those k 22s best of all)

I currently own Colt, S&W, and Ruger DA 22 revolvers. I have Colt, Ruger and High Standard semi-auto 22 pistols. My favorites are the 4" blue Colt Diamondback and S&W M18 (4" of course). But the Ruger LCR-22 is a fun little revolver. I do often carry it as a "truck gun" for whatever.

I normally group 2" at 25 off the bench with Federal bulk pack in my Rossi M511 Sportsman. It has a bit rough DA, but usable. The SA is sweet, light and crisp. It's a little tack driver.

The other day, I bought some of the new "Federal Auto Match", a bulk pack "match" load, from Walmart. Well, the stuff didn't work as good as the Lightening cheap stuff in anything EXCEPT my Rossi revolver. That ol' gal puts 'em into just over an inch at 25 yards. It will shoot right at one in groups with RWS Target, but that stuff is expensive. It's gotta be up around 6 or 8 dollars a 50 round box by now. Last time I bought any was probably 10 years ago, was over 4 dollars then. This Federal Auto Match is 16 bucks for a 325 round box, not TOO bad considering how well it shoots in the Rossi. It's cheap enough to plink with. I plan to keep it around as I shoot the Rossi a LOT. I've been in to my new Ruger SR22 lately, but the Rossi shoots better, easier to hit with as it's a might heavier. The Ruger shoots 2" groups off the bench, but isn't as steady off hand and the Rossi, with the Auto Match load, is even more accurate. I love that little fart. Stainless, she don't look bad, either. :D The DA is no Smith K22 Masterpiece, but I don't really care. A kit gun is a SA gun anyway. I ain't head shootin' a 25 yard rabbit DA and I ain't carrying a .22 revolver for self defense.

Oh, if ya wanna CC, here's my little back up. I have a BP one and a .22 magnum Black Widow one, too. Not DA, but I don't carry it as a primary and the Rossi is a might big even for a primary, won't fit in a pocket. This one is .22LR, very compact, but only a last ditch back up. I always have either a 9 or a .38 in the other pocket.

I'f really like to know more about the K-22 image that you submitted in post 25.

The hammer looks more like a scarce option that came with some un-common center fire options from SW.

Images can be deceiving.

Thanks,

Saltydog,

my K-22 is an old gun that was built in 1952, it just has a regular narrow hammer in it, no target options like I have on my M-14-2.
Maybe this photo shows it a little better. It is a very nice gun and I had it when my eyesight was still 172% and did my most spectacular shots with it.

Ruger LCR and a H&R 949. The H&R is a "safe queen" and is (almost) never shot. It was my father's first gun that he bought with his own money and it was the first handgun I owned.

The LCR is my newest gun. Put a couple hundred rounds through it last weekend and really liked it Suprised at how accurate it is

Some good lookin guns being posted. I have an h&r 929? that gets carried alot around the yard. I use it for snakes and rodents. It's been a good gun. I moved out here 3 years ago and I got to experience cutting grass and stopping to shoot copperheads. Alot of fun actually:) I have no compliaints with the h&r, it's held up.

It's hard for me to spend much on a .22. I would love to own some of the examples posted!
