Hi,

So I picked up a whole bunch of reloading stuff for this calibre today for $65!!!

I got

RCBS FL, Neck Sizer, Seating die
Lee trimmer guide
Hornady SST 140 gr x52
Winchester and Federal 1-2 Fired Brass x38
Federal 140 gr SP Factory Ammo x17
Game Getter .22 Conversion for 6.5x55
.22 Blanks
6.5 Powder Funnel
6.5 Bore Snake
and a Wood block and rod that I'm not sure what the purpose is for

Now, I own a m/38.

Is it safe to shoot the factory Federal ammo in my older gun and if so, how will it group and will it shoot high?

How are the Hornady SST bullets for this calibre?

And is Winchester and Federal 6.5 brass good?

I haven't tried the SST, but have shot plenty of the AMax's. They group well just not in the same area at different ranges. IE. zeroed at 100, they hit around 2" low and around 3'oclock at 150, then about 4" low, and around 7'oclock at 200yds.

I have heard but not checked it out myself that both Privi, and Lapua cases are built to the actual case head diameter and work better than state side produced cases. I DO know for a fact that the Privi ammo I got for shooting hogs is some of the most accurate ammo that has ever been through ours since we have had it. It will also dump a deer or hog right on it's nose.

This all said, if you are looking to load for it, you could easily and still pretty cheaply pick up some Privi ammo and give it a try, then have the cases left over to reload. Also I believe that it is Graf and Son's sell s both the bullets and brass in component form.

Hope this helps
