Well, I don't, but my brother does. Today he told me he was going to head to Black's Creek next weekend for some shooting. I reminded reminded him of the development that is supposed to be happening and that you can no longer shoot there(or so I hear). Where can he go shooting now in the Treasure Valley? BLM land or Birds of Prey?

I shoot mostly on the National Guard land, I think it's BLM land too. South of Black's Creek past the power lines. There are also some shooting spots around the reservoir that I see people at frequently. Or, the range, but I don't like dealing with fees and range rules (even though it's one of the better public ranges I've been too).

I've never been north of town, but someone told me about shooting near the dump. Hope that helps, just tell him not to go on Saturday. That's when I'm going and it's already busy enough everywhere. :p

I shoot out behind the Boise Stage Stop in the BLM East of Boise. There's also BLM on along highway 16 between Boise and Emmett. Also, I've heard nothing of Black's Creek closing. It doesn't say anything about it closing on its website.

It's posted no shooting of rifles and pistols in the Birds of Prey area. Shotguns OK though.

You can shoot along highway 16 between Boise and Emmett on the West side. There's a little turn off point but you can't take a motorized vehicle there. There's a pretty big area for you to park and walk though. I've done it several times as I live nearby. If you go south of the airport, follow pleasant valley road and just keep going. You will hit the birds of prey land and just drive through. Once you hit the major power lines, the birds of prey area is done and there's A LOT of open space to work with.
