I got a TCP a while back and am pretty happy with it. I have been carrying it in a Galco pocket holster which has worked pretty well, especially in my winter coat pocket. It works pretty well in cargo shorts as well but leaves a little to be desired in my blue jeans. It prints and I don't like losing the use of one of my front pockets.

So anyway, I have been wanting a belt holster for it. Something small, high ride, and leather. Not an inside the pant type or anything. Its so small that it would have to be easy to conceal this way, high on the belt covered by a t-shirt.

I found this one that I like, but the price tag is a little steep.

I would like something with retention, and brown leather. Anybody have any ideas?

When the front pants pocket is tight enough to print, I just use the little pouch that came with the pistol from Taurus. It really works great and looks just like a camera pouch. Before the TCP when I simply had to carry something really small, I carried a little .25 in a zippered off brand camera case. With a little practice, the Taurus pouch just as fast as the typical holster and can be carried anywhere any time in full view with no problems. Though I usually just carry in cargo shorts with no holster. I especially like the type shorts that have a little change pocket inside the upper pocket. You just have to blow out the lint every day and do a light cleaning every so often. Once on purpose, I carried well over a month without even blowing it out and shot it first at a range session without any problem. But I do pay attention to never putting anything dirty or gritty in my right hand pocket.

I like the idea of the pouch that came with the tcp, but not the execution of it. If I was a business man, or a photographer, or cop, or someone who might have a large black case on their belt, then it would make sense. But it just looks out of place on me. I'm sure nobody else would notice it, but I just feel like a nerd with it on.

That Bulldog cell phone style case that the TCP comes equipped with is not that large.
I carried my Diamondback 380 in one for well over a year and no one including several police officers gathered around daily at a small store drinking coffee ever thought "gun".
It just looks like you are carrying some sort of PDA.
I still use mine.

For a quality holster, and I make no claims about the holster you linked to, $55 is very inexpensive.

You will notice during your search, there are very few concealed carry thumb break holsters available, especially from the top makers, since most feel the holster design itself will provide enough retention for a conceal carry user. Often the lower end makers will offer the thumb break since their holsters don't offer proper retention without the thumb break.

The first thing that comes to mind it the Mitch Rosen "Upper Limit". It is available in brown, but costs nearly 3 times what the other holster costs.

I like the "Upper Limit" a lot. Thats pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. And I agree that when it comes to holsters, you generally get what you pay for. But I can't fork over 150 bucks online and then me get it in the mail and not like it. I would really like to try some out before I buy. My local shops don't have many holsters.

I have a Galco Jak-slide holster for a 1911 that (surprisingly) fits the TCP pretty well. I might give that a try.

For about $75, Rosen has their Express Line Upper Limit.

Dillon Precision, and Brownell's carry some Rosen products, though I don't know if the Upper Limit is one.

The thing about a quality holster is you can often sell it for more than you paid for it. Take a look on e-bay and see what folks are asking for their Milt Sparks Versa Max II's.

I don't know if there is a Taurus forum, but I bet you could sell this holster pretty easily, if you ended up not liking it.

Don Hume may have something in your price range. There are several on-line resellers of the Hume line.

One thing you may also find, since Taurus has such a large variety of models, the holster makers may not have a holster for you because they can't keep up with constant procession of new models. Now if you had a Glock 19 or with your 1911 you'd be able to find a holster just about anywhere.

Yeah, there aren't a whole lot of holsters out there yet specifically for the TCP. Don Hume doesn't even list the TCP. High Noon has a few that I was looking at. The Galco pocket holster I have been using for almost a year was made for a Ruger LCP with laser grips. It doesn't fit perfect, but it has worked this long....

I've built both OWB and IWB for the TCP, as well as a bunch of pocket holsters.:D
