Hey guys, as some of you may know I recently picked up the 5-7 I've been wanting for 3 years. I've never had a laser of any kind on one of my guns and I think its time and I really think the 5-7 would benefit from one. I was looking online and think I'm going to order the crimson trace railmaster. Its only $129 from midwayusa and from everything I know about laser companies, crimson trace is right there at the top. Anyone have or use this setup or have any suggestions on which laser to use? I really like the fairly cheap price of the crimson trace and don't want to spend too much more. Thanks guys

Cory

Ill get some up tomorrow for sure. I'm not what you'd consider very good with computers and use my cell phone to surf the web so ill have to get my girlfriend to help me upload pics lol. I got lucky and found 2 extra mags at cabelas today for $39 a pop and snatched them up. I was surprised to see about 50 boxes of ammo there too so I picked up 1000 rounds of the regular ss197. I did order some of that wicked looking T6 ammo from Elite Ammo though. 2600 fps! Ouch!

I would also take a look at Viridian. They are costly, but their performance is amazing. I find a green laser easier to focus on. If you like green, doesn't have to be a Viridian, though.

I would like to have a green laser for my use on a firearm, but heard that you shouldn't go with cheap ones because [now, please bear with me as I am unsure of what I'm about to say] they don't have a certain lense that blocks . . . either UV or Infrared [or something] and can hurt your eyes if you don't use certain glasses. Viridian may be quality enough to have that lense.

I would think so. You are not far off, as I've heard that about refracting as well. I'll have to look that up. Albeit not green, another to look at is the Stingray. It's more affordable, and I has one on a Sigma that worked great.

I went with the crimson trace railmaster. They were priced right, have great brand reputation and there were good reviews on it. It should be here by Friday. Thanks for the input guys, I may have to try out the green laser when i pick up the fnx-45 tactical.

Pictures, man! We want pictures! lol

I was watching Top Shot, and I'm kinda wanting one now. Leave it to the media for influence... lol.

Just so you know.

You can miss just as fast and just as badly with a laser as without one.

They are good for practice, as you can see all your mistakes like jerking the trigger & flinching.

They are good for low light close range use.

They are good for shooting from awkward positions when you can't use the sights.

Thats about it.

I think the positives out-weigh the negatives, there, rc. LOL.

I just wanted to make sure nobody had mistakenly thought putting a $400 laser on a handgun was going to automatically make them shoot as well and never miss like Max Pain or somebody.

Agreed. If they are good for practice, then they are good for target shooting or defense. You practice with irons, and can do just as badly with them.

They ARe good for low light, where a flash light gives you away.

Sighted in properly, lasers give an edge to those with poor sight, I.e.: me.

rc: I get where you're coming from, totally understand you there! One of my buddies thought putting a PG on a shotgun thought it'd make him so much better with it.
