pulp fiction

I was watching pulp fiction the other night when it comes to the part where the two hitmen are getting ready to go into this appartment to kill these guys, and at first glance they appear to be carrying crome 1911s but when I freeze framed a couple of sections these guns appear to have external extractors on them. Anybody notice this?

Also, theres a scene where these same two guys empty their guns into another guy. This shot ends where Samuel Jackson's gun goes to slide lock and in the next scene he fires some more. While this is an obvious editing booboo
on closer inspection of the first "slidelock" shot his gun didnt actually run dry and stay open. It jammed:p

Realized that something was wrong when Samuel L. referred to his 1911 style as "Mr. 9mm" in the coffee shop scene.

I wanted to see if it was really a 9mm Gov't model, or just a dialogue goof. When I rewound the tape I saw the extractor.

The gun really is a 9mm, a Star Model B I think. High-polish nickel finish. Score one for Mr. Jackson.

The width of that muzzle has be believing its a .45, and the "Mr. 9mm" was a dialoge goof.

I never noticed the jam when they are shooting "Brad". I'll have to watch for that next time... thought it was slidelock as well.

It my just be my ears but in that same scene (killing Brad and the other keepers of the internally-glowing briefcase), it really sounds like he calls him Brad at least once and Brett at least once.

you don't see true .45s in movies often because .45 chamberings are difficult to convert to blank-firing. so it probably really was a 9mm or .38 super like in nash bridges (technically 9x23mmR) but if he referred to it as a .38 people might think he was referring to a revolver.

I always thought they were Llamas. Spanish 1911's with external extractors. The muzzle I saw was NOT 9mm!

It's funny the things pick apart in movies.
Even though I have been "into" guns all my life I never noticed or really cared about them shooting to slide lock etc.
However I ears and eyes perked up at the idea of trying to treat a narcotics overdose with an intracardiac injection of epinepherine. Never mind the method they used to do it.

It is wrong on many levels:
First of all, doing an intracardiac injection is extremely dangerous. Obviously having a sharp object penetrate your heart is not a good thing. Just one of the many dangers would be lacerating one of the coronary arteries supplying the heart muscle with blood. This treatment fell out of favor long ago due to it's danger when being done by doctors let alone some guy holding the syringe in both hands and thrusting it blindly into the chest.
Second, epinepherine (Adrenalin) is not the correct drug to use. In fact, if this was given to a person that was still alive it would cause them to go into ventricular fibrillation that would not respond to treatment.
A Heroin overdose kills you because you stop breathing. Basically the drug tells your brain that you don't need to breath. Your heart is still beating fine until it becomes hypoxic. The correct drug would be Narcan (Naloxone Hydrochloride), 2 mg, IV.
Giving the drug IV should be an easy no brainer since this is how he does heroin.

Yeah and that bible verse Sam Jackson is quoting the whole movie is made up too. *shrugs* I don't look to Tarantino movies for any sort of accuracy. Kill Bill part 1 was the same way. Neat movie but nobody must have bothered to teach Uma Therman how to properly hold a sword.

Interesting info on the overdose drug thing.

I remember the second time I watched this movie more than the first.
I was setting on the couch with my girlfriend watching it when her father came in and set down and began to watch it with us. Well, about the time Jules and Vincent get finished with their argument/disscussion about foot massages he turns and looks at me and her and I, by the way am rubbing her feet just by chance. Man, talk about embarrassing, I just wanted to get up and run.
