Have they fixed/improved the laser activation?

How is the overall reliability/quality of current models?

I bought mine about six months ago and have put maybe 500 rounds through it with no failures of any kind. Laser works sooooo well!

I think S&W worked out the kinks!! It is a great thing to carry in cargo shorts during the hot weather!

I know a friend of mine bought one shortly after they came out and had problems keeping the laser properly aligned and S&W had him send it back to them to be fixed. It came back with a new laser module in it and now it remains on target without any more shifting or movement inside the frame. As such I'm going to guess that they have probably fixed the laser problem with current production models.

The best source for Bodyguard 380 info is the forum at www.bodyguard380.com

I think the main issue that remains with the Bodyguards is broken firing pins. Its discussed in depth at the link jeff provided above.

My wife bought an early model and had problems with the laser module retention screw backing out and jamming up the works. Sent it back and they replaced it with a new version. Screw doesn't back out, laser is also much easier to activate. Accurate little sucker too!

Some complain about the laser button being hard to operate but it was designed like that so it can't be turned on so easy

Read about the firing pins breaking. What's up w that? Cause? Has it been fixed? I know if I read enough about anything I can find fault and a reason not to get it.

Bought one about a year ago. Couldn't be happier. Conceals well, shoots well and so far very reliable and accurate.

Doorman, how many rounds you have through it?

Hit and miss still. I would not trust my life to it. Why not get a j frame.

Do you own one PHilly? I would bet you don't. My bodyguard has fired several hundred rounds with NO problems. Comparing a snubby to the Bodyguard 380 class of pistols is comparing apples and oranges. They are MUCH smaller, lighter, and slimmer. A better comparison for a snubby would be the subcompact 9mms. Then its outclassed in power.

I'd love to have a consumer reports of guns. Where real data is reported.

Anyone have a link to any S&W information about them improving this pistol?

Owned 2, 1 year apart. I would not comment unless I had personal experience.

:)I have one that I bought a few months ago. I've maybe put 3-400 rounds through it, without any problems. I think the long, heavy, gritty, trigger-pull sucks, other than that, I think it's a great carry gun, and probably carry it more than my Kimber Solo, because it is a little thinner, and lighter.

What was "hit or miss" about the ones you owned? I appreciate you are speaking from your experience but without sharing what your experience was it just sounds like an opinion rather than experience. We can learn a lot more from your experience.

Bought one last September after I figured they had everything fixed. Coming up on 500 rounds, no issues, no problems. The laser works fine whenever I turn it on, but I just don't use it much. I rented several before I bought and liked the feel of the BG best and it seemed to me that there was less "felt recoil". My 2cts.

My laser actually quit working. I thought it was the battery so I replaced it but it still doesn't work. S&W said they will send me and envelope to return it for a replacement but I haven't done it yet. I don't have much use for the laser.
