Does anyone have information about any handgun shooting groups or competitions in the Houston area ???

My Dad, a couple friends, my wife & I shoot frequently at our residence (we live in the county so it's legal). I am interested in joining a shooting group/club and participating in competitions for fun.

Any information from fellow Houston area guy's is much appreciated.

there's a USPSA shoot this saturday at Greenwood gun club outside Brazoria. Myself and a co worker will be there (it will be the first USPSA shoot for both of us). I know from experience that the greenwood guys are friendly and encouraging. I'm a member of the gunclub but not a member of the USPSA group.

If you're on the west side of town, West Houston Shooters holds IDPA matches every Wed and first Saturday, and 3gun matches every second Saturday. We're also working on getting all the equipment for steel challenge in the near future.

Motownfire, I Feel kinda bad, I tell you about a shoot today and it gets rained out :(

But unless you were the parole officer that stopped by and started shooting the star we set up, I'm pretty sure you took at look at the rain and stayed home anyway.

But for future reference every 2nd Sat (except next month) is when they're scheduled. and there's a 3-gun match here on Jun 30th.

Bayou rifles runs benchrest and bullseye matches at the Addicks range, high power at the Juliff range. Up in Lufkin TX they do IDPA and benchrest. PM me if you want details. We are hosting the state bullseye match later this month.

IDPA also has a club finder at it's site. IDPA.com. That's probably a better venue for cutting your teeth--less pressure anyway, smaller stages, and just "less". Definately do USPSA at some point, but make sure you can handle the A-hole factor of it.
