The_Next_Generation May 2, 2012, 10:59 PM Nope! Well, maybe to some, but not this guy. I'll take wood-for-good over plastic-fantastic any day :) - TNG medalguy May 2, 2012, 11:04 PM That's a purdy '97 there. :) PapaG May 2, 2012, 11:21 PM Not old. Demonstrates good taste. orionengnr May 2, 2012, 11:22 PM Not old...mature. :) Deus Machina May 2, 2012, 11:27 PM Yes. Learning to tell what's good often comes with age. :) mnrivrat May 2, 2012, 11:53 PM God I hope not - I just bought an original Flintlock Musket - that would age me to worm food ! Fishslayer May 2, 2012, 11:54 PM "Getting?" Naaaahhhh.... looks like yer already there! Tinpig May 3, 2012, 12:09 AM Nope. Just means you've got good taste. Carl Levitian May 3, 2012, 12:35 AM If your getting old then your aging very gracefully! Give me nice old guns with style and class over the modern plastic and stamped sheet metal any day. Life is too short to play with ugly guns. arizona_cards_11 May 3, 2012, 12:50 AM Depends on how they shoot..... ;) B!ngo May 3, 2012, 01:27 AM 'You're not getting older, you're getting better...' theriflespeaks1863 May 3, 2012, 01:33 AM Yes, but then again, I suspect you have always been an old soul at heart- much like myself. :) You have excellent taste, my friend- better than most, in my opinion. ;) I really like that 1897! Cheers, -Chris shiftyer1 May 3, 2012, 01:41 AM My ex mother in law always said I had an old soul.......loved old guns forever:) I lean toward cowboy guns myself and that 1897 sure fits! allaroundhunter May 3, 2012, 02:12 AM Old? No. Classy? Definitely. Flopsweat May 3, 2012, 03:07 AM As I once said to a dinner roll, "You're not getting older - you're getting butter". Kiln May 3, 2012, 03:41 AM Looks like a classy collection. Who the hell cares what anybody else thinks anyways. I don't have a Raven in my safe to prove anything to anyone. bannockburn May 3, 2012, 06:19 AM No, it just means that you have a thing for old guns. Nothing about the human aging process in that. JohnBT May 3, 2012, 07:36 AM If you bought them when they were new, then yeah, you're getting old. LHRGunslinger May 3, 2012, 08:23 AM I'm 23 & I prefer wood & blued steel over polymer & stainless any day. j1 May 3, 2012, 08:30 AM You ask a really tough question but then again do you really care? Nice guns, sir. Enjoy them. bushmaster1313 May 3, 2012, 08:36 AM Enjoy them. Consider it done Byrd666 May 3, 2012, 08:46 AM Just more experienced with longstanding traditional value 303tom May 3, 2012, 09:19 AM Naaa; We old guys don`t think that, by the way, nice looking firearms.......... hboy35 May 3, 2012, 09:34 AM to see if the '97 is cut to 18" and has a lazer and a tac light clamped on the end.... If it doesn't have all the latest tacticool gadgets and wizardy attached--then, like everybody else said--you are just fine. loadedround May 3, 2012, 09:37 AM What make is that top shotgun? I know it's a single barrel trap gun. ROW May 3, 2012, 09:42 AM I would not have a gun unless it had a wood stock. The exception would be an AR-15. CZguy May 3, 2012, 10:28 AM What was the question again? That's how you can tell you are getting old.....you just have good taste. bushmaster1313 May 3, 2012, 10:34 AM Ithaca 4E Knick from 1927 Ryanxia May 3, 2012, 10:40 AM No way, means you have good taste. Beer may be more popular but fine wine is for more civilized people :) ForumSurfer May 3, 2012, 10:44 AM No, you don't get old until you stop playing. Like guns...we pick up a little petina and wear marks over the years, they add character. :) timhernandez May 3, 2012, 10:46 AM Class is timeless and ageless.. and those are some classy pieces. dogrunner May 3, 2012, 11:39 AM I'd prefer to describe your taste as "classically inclined".......Nice selection. bushmaster1313 May 3, 2012, 01:07 PM "tacticooly challenged"? PT92 May 3, 2012, 11:14 PM I like the "black" guns as much as any 'gun-aficionado.' That being said, there is nothing "NEW" today that matches the utter beauty of the guns of past :). I kind of began to feel the same way when I reached 40 (not older but wiser as they say). In fact and to illustrate this, lately have have had an 'itch' for a Coach-Gun of all things just for its classic-beauty. -Cheers B!ngo May 4, 2012, 03:21 AM By the way, those are some classy pieces. Agreed. And I notice that as I get older, my tastes are in heading in retrograde. I was an all black rifle/steel/polymer guy. Really wanted the latest and greatest. So far my favorite handgun is the HK P7. Modern but not new. After buying an AR, I really fulfilled a 20+ year itch with an HK MP94 clone. Now, I'm looking at a bolt .308. The Ruger Sight Scout in LH design. It's got a wooden stock for peet's sake. mdauben May 4, 2012, 10:56 AM If so, I'm right there with you old man! Jim, West PA May 4, 2012, 11:29 AM WOW, that pre '64 is downright beautiful !!!! Aint familiar with the side by side but that '97 and that pre '64 are jist the kinds o' guns that ya jist gotta have the feel of in yer hands :D The kinds that become a 'part' of ya. Mp7 May 4, 2012, 11:40 AM "tacticooly challenged" ... hit it on the head! Also means you can actually hit something without an Acog :-) Skribs May 4, 2012, 11:44 AM Well, if you happen to have any of those tasteless "black", "plastic", or "tacticool" firearms left over, I'm perfectly willing to help improve the decor of your overall collection by taking the tasteless firearms off your hands. (Wood furniture is a reason for me not to get a firearm, personally, but then again I'm young). JohnD13 May 4, 2012, 11:48 AM It just shows that you have reached an age that allows good taste to develop! B!ngo May 4, 2012, 05:41 PM By the way, those are some classy pieces. Agreed. Not cut, it came from the factory this way http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/4382/cimg0425k.jpg Hey, where did that Model 12 come from?:) MarkDido May 5, 2012, 11:52 AM Yes. You're getting old and shouldn't be trusted with firearms. I will keep them for you until your competency hearing! ;) The Lone Haranguer May 5, 2012, 11:53 AM Maybe a little old-fashioned. :) a-sheepdog May 5, 2012, 12:37 PM I agree that its not getting "old", its just determining what you like and going with that instead of following the crowd and getting the latest greatest firearm. I like your choices. Iramo94 May 5, 2012, 01:19 PM I got over the black plastic at age 17. I still assert that I will never get old. Badlander May 5, 2012, 03:13 PM In the last few years I have gone from Black rifles to lever Actions. Sold the Benelli M1 in favor if A 20" Win Mod 12. And I am only 60 years young. chhodge69 May 5, 2012, 03:20 PM depends... did you buy those new? jj1962hemi May 5, 2012, 03:23 PM I'm 46 and just bought a pre-Model 15 Combat Masterpiece.....instead of the Glock 22 I've been eyeballing and had saved the money for. The Glock would have been my first ever polymer pistol. I have an old 1897 (1933) and a nice Browning O/U (1965)....a Model 3 (1898)....you just have good judgment! heron May 5, 2012, 04:59 PM Far a s I can tell, your taste in guns just means you have good taste. Ky Larry May 5, 2012, 05:50 PM Not a thing wrong with these guns. They worked when new and, if kept in good condition, will work just fine today. I wouldn't say you were old, just eco-friendly. You are helping to conserve the earths resources by extending the working life of existing tools. Sounds very 21st century to me. bushmaster1313 May 5, 2012, 09:24 PM Saving the planet one classic gun at a time.
