I just bought a glock 30 and love it. I KNOW i want an LCR, and Glock 27 both to round out my handguns (eventually I will get more) for now.

Thing is, I'm torn between the LCR and the Glock 27 for my next opurchase. I'll wait about a month until I make the third and final purchase.

Any advise on what to get first, and why?

What do you have in mind for either firearm?

If carrying, then the lcr will be more convenient as you can just throw the j frame in your pocket as you walk out the door.

That being said, I had a glock 26 (same size as the 27) that was easy to carry as well. I'd go with the one that you want the most.

I'd get the LCR in .357 first. It's a good "drop in the pocket on the way to the store" piece if you're not the type that carries at home all the time (I am - a full size 1911 all day, every day).

I plan on getting the 38 since I shot a 357 full sized revolver and while it was fun to shoot I can't imagine that load being shot out of a gun a third of the size and a third of the weight.

Is there any price difference between the .38 & .357 versions of the LCR? I thought the MSRPs were identical.

In any case, might some prefer to buy the .357 version simply because it's a stronger gun? (Though it does weigh a few ounces more.)

That's the only argument I can think of for the .357 version as I sure don't want to trying firing Magnums through anything that small. I put my Mags in a more suitable place: a 6" GP100.

I think the price is pretty damn close if not identical. Those 3-4 oz are the reason I don't want it.

My LGS gives me an OTD price when I am shopping. When looking at the LCR, it was less than $35 more for the .357 so I went with that. YMMV, but .357 out of it does not seem any worse than a 4" K-frame, to me anyway. Supposedly it is the polymer frame absorbing recoil, who knows.

Have you shot a Glock 27? Granted the recoil isn't as bad as .357 out of a 17oz revolver, but .40 S&W in a 19oz pistol is no picnic either. After owning both the G26 and G27, I've settled on the 9mm for my subcompact needs.

Get what you want. I'm just saying try before you buy.

You already have a semi auto Glock.

Get the LCR so you can have one semi auto and one revolver.

That would make the most sense for now.

I've shot the Glock 27 and the recoil is stout, and it's not a pocket gun like the LCR. If it comes down to capacity then get the Glock, but consider the LCR. ;)

The 27 is a must-have gun. You'll adore it if you shoot it enough to get used to the recoil.

I imagine the 26 is just as outstanding, just with less recoil and one more round in flush form.

Those are both good choices. My two most frequent used carry guns are a G27 and a S&W J frame. The LCR is smaller and you would probably carry it more. The G27 would be a better weapon if you ever had to use it. An LCR in your pocket is better than a G 27 in the gun safe. It is a compromise only you can decide.

The Ruger is 6.5" long and weighs 16.6 oz in 357 mag
The Glock is 6.4" long and weighs 19.75 oz in either 40 or 9mm.

I'm not as familiar with 40 S&W ballisics from short barrels, but know that a 9mm from a G26 will actually shoot a 124 gr bullet faster than a 125 gr 357 from a 2" barrel. The Ruger has a 1.8" barrel.

This was a no brainer for me. I went G-26 and got a shorter gun that is only 3 oz heavier. It has 2X the ammo capacity, 3X with G19 mags as spares. I get more velocity and much less recoil and muzzle blast.

I'd imagine the 40 cal G27 would easily outperform a 357mag from short barrels, but you'd get almost as much recoil and blast from the 40 as 357.

If you are in California, get the G27 and get it now - unless you want to hassle with the SSE mess. Generation4 Glocks will not be listed in CA, so I'd get a Gen3 while they are still available.

Local dealers are starting to jump on the SSE bandwagon - which may well get that loophole closed, or at least tightened. Who really wants a long-barrelled, single-shot G27? If the law gets tightened up, that's what I think they'll do - make converting the SSE'd gun back to original illegal.
