Anyone want to take a gander at this one?
I don't think the picture does it justice.

That is prolly a 41 Long Colt, not a magnum. There was a rumor that Colt was going to make Pythons in 41 Magnum but it never materialized to my knowledge.

What we have here is a Colt model 1877 "Thunderer" chambered to use the .41 Colt cartridge (not the .41 S&W Magnum). This particular revolver was made in 1903 - long before the .41 Magnum was thought of. Someone at AuctionArms.com should make sure the descriptions are reasonably accurate. Obviously some gun owners have no idea of what they have.

Neat gun. I've got the .38 Long colt 'Lightning' that was its small bore sister--made in 1884. First Colt production double-action revolvers. Still had the loading gate and a distinctly single-action feel (and you don't even want to try the double-action pull). Sure hope someone doesn't try to run .41 mag through it. Jeez, that'd be a mess.

I figured it was a .41 Long Colt. Anyone know if a .41 mag would even chamber in the cylinder? I don't want to think about it actually being fired in this thing.

Jes going by my admitted faulty memory but the 41 Colt was actually about 38 caliber IIRC. The 41 mag uses 410 diameter IIRC so I would doubt if it would fit but you never know!!

.41 Long Colt started out life with a heeled bullet, giving it a .401 or so diameter bullet.
When the heeled bullets were dropped in favor of inside lubricated bullets bullet diamter dropped to .38, with a large hollow base in the bullet that would expand into the rifling on firing.

No, fortunately you can't get a .41 Magnum cartridge into it. But someone may buy it because they think they can. The auction site should check these descriptions.
