Thinking of buying an AR trigger? Read.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I just thought this might intest some of you. I recently purchased an Ar trigger from Jp enterprises. I thought I would install it myself, but after reading the instructions, I decided it would be better to send off my lower reciever to Jp and let them do the installin' for me. (I'm not really the hands on type unless you want something broken) Anyway to make a long story short, there was a screw up in their shipping department and my finished lower got sent back to my old address (i recently moved). It wasn't a huge problem for me because I know the people that live in my old place and they had no problem shipping the lower over to me. Still I was out the cost of having the lower shipped to me from my old home, and I called up JP to ask for a refund on my shipping. They admitted they were in the wrong and said they would see what they could do... anyway, a week later I got a slip not only refunding me the cost of shipping but the cost for the installation as well. That means JP actually lost money (they are out not only the time it took to install the trigger, but shipping as well) to keep me happy. After some nasty experiences with other gunshops, this was like a breath of fresh air. It was really nice to deal with a company that actually steps up to the plate and makes an effort to fix things when they make a mistake.

By the way, the trigger was like butta. I don't know anything about any of the competitor's triggers so I can't say for sure that a JP is better than a Jewel or an Accuracy Speaks. However, I can let everyone who is considering buying an AR trigger that JP makes a quality product, and perhaps even more importantly they back that product up with stellar customer service.

I'm very happy to hear about your experience. I purchased a trigger from JP a few months ago for my AR and after viewing the CD-ROM instructions decided I wasn't up to the installation task. I'll be sending in my lower next month to have them do the work. (I'm moving at the end of February, guess I should make that very clear!)

I'm really looking forward to the new trigger in wannabe "spacegun".

Ridiculous as the law is, unless you are an FFL you were technically breaking the law by getting the lower sent back to you. I can only imagine the pain if old address folks didn't know you but knew the lower was a gun part and gave it to the cops. Appreciate the JP input, pretty much figured it was the way to go.

Isn't it okay for a gunsmith to mail a gun to the person who own it? I know you can mail to gunsmiths...

Eh, I've sent and received directly from SIG, Browning, and Freedom Arms some of my guns without any problems. If the law were as you might interpret it, it would have been up to the sender to ensure its proper destination. They would be the ones held accountable. Somehow, I don't think SIG, Browning, and FA would knowingly break the law and risk themselves. I'm sure there is some clause to exempt repairs and modifications.

Wrong.

Yep, JP makes a fine trigger. With the help of an E-Z Lap diamond hone for fitting the safety engagment part of the trigger to the safety, I found the installation to be pretty simple. I've installed five or six of the JP trigger/hammer setups, with excellent results.

Wrong.

No....actually he was right. I believe he was referring to the people living at his old address taking his lower and sending it to him directly. While a perfectly reasonable request, this is against the law seeing as both partys do not have FFL's and neither is the gunsmith performing the work. Legally they would have to return the lower to JP, and then have JP send it back out to him.

Stupid laws are great arent they?

Oh, I misread it. My error.:o

I'll see your "Wrong." and raise you one... :D

As far as federal regulations go, it IS legal for a non-FFL to mail (via contract carrier) a firearm to another non-FFL if they are both in the same state. Your state may have separate regs on private party transfers, tho.

Wow, talk about taking a side road. The point of my post was basically that Jp was really good about fixing thier mistake and make a solid product. Anyway, I'm not sure if I broke the law. If I did, sorry Mr. ATF man. Nothing I can do to unbreak the law now. On a side note though I think UPS would take the heat. That package was only supposed to be delieved if I personally had signed for it. The people that now live in my house said they found it on thier doorstep when they came back from the mall. Smooth move, UPS. You can get all of JP entireprises contact info at www.jpar.com

CPS1... that link took me to a couple of pop ups, and nothing at ALL to do with firearms... I found it on my own, though... www.jprifles.com

Thanks, Mikey D...

Not for breaking the law, but for taking the time to share the positive feedback. I find it too rare and quite refreshing. Thank you.

Boy is my face red...
Sorry about the messed up link, I thought I had it right. Anyways glad you found it. P.S. Everyone else reading this thread please follow Steelharp's link (apparently trigger installation isn't the only area I have problems)
And thanks to you, Karl. I find that when a company treats you right, often the best way to thank them is by telling others of your experience.
