I have a chance to get my hands on a 6x45 AR upper for an extremely reasonable price... Figured I'd pick the wise peoples heads here to see what people think about it. I already have a 6.8, so I'm not sure it would do anything that great my 6.8 can't do.

It was one of the first to convert the .223 to another caliber. The cartridge is very accurate and a flat shooter. Very easy to load for with almost no chance of splitting necks when forming. Its a good round out to 500 meters with no problems and has the edge on the .223 for bucking the wind. I have AR's in all the "popular" calibers to play with. The 6mm has its place for sure.
Will it out do the 6.8? No. But the 6.5 Grendel out-shines the 6.8 at long range. It's a trade off.

Im building one right now, if you have the ability to reload its a great round. Commercial is offered from Corbon and Black Hills. Dies are available from Hornandy and RCBS. Load data from the Hodgdon website is pretty extensive.

As stated above its one of the first wildcats for the AR, necking up .223 brass to 6mm (.243).

1stMarine has a long running thread entitled the "243 AR project" you can search for it. Also you can google it, there is alot of article and info on the road.

there's a good article about the 6X45 by greg rodriguez in the shooting times or G&A. Basically sums up to say the the 6X45 is a decent little niche cartridge.
