My first OLT custom knife was just delivered. I was looking for a quality basic drop point style knife, when I came across Jim Olt " Michiganroadkill " over on 24 Hour Camp Fire. So after some PM's, I decided on the steel and scales. Jim had the knife finished and delivered in about 3 weeks. I decided to to go with 154CM on this knife, it is the first 154CM knife I have owned. I have D2's, 440-C's and S30V knives.

Very nice. Useful, clean shape, and I"m a big fan of micarta.

Can you show it next to something for scale? A dollar bill or common knife, maybe?

Very nice, I'm a fan of working knives kept as simple as possible. That blade fills the bill for me. Most of my own fixed blades look like they came directly from a butcher's shop....

Looks good.

Does it feel secure in the hand with no concern of running up on the blade?

I dug some knives out of the safe in assorted styles and lengths for a quick size comparison and to give you a general idea of the size and shape of the knife. Jim OLT described it to me as a GP-8, which is a General Purpose Drop Point with a 4" handle and a 4" blade, 8" overall. The OLT GP-8 is a excellent value for craftsmanship, price and delivery time. The knives bellow range from $550.00 to $150.00. I paid $150.00 delivered with about a 3 week wait for the OLT GP-8. One of the knives bellow I waited 3 years from the time of order for delivery.

I know Jim OLT "Michiganroadkill" in no other way than PM conversations on "24hourcampfire" and the ordering of this knife. I really enjoy a verity of custom knives and makers. I do put credit where credit is due. Jim has a great combo of price and craftsmanship, when it comes to his GP-8. I plan on getting several more GP-8's for younger hunters we are taking to the field this year for the first time here the Pacific Northwest to hunt Mule deer, Black bear and Elk.

Here is a picture to compare the thickness differences of the scales/ handle on the GP-8. The OLT GP-8 is one of the thicker custom knives I own. The grip of the OLT is very positive, due to it's size as compared to the Ingram #6 in front of it and the Ingram #1 behind it, in the photo bellow.
