Have to say thanks to everyone that answered my questions.

Shot my first reloads yesterday with my sons. Even got one of my boys to help with a few during the reloading process.

Great feeling to shoot your own ammo, congratulations ! Now you can fine tune the loads for accuracy in your guns.

Nice work and congrats on loading your own. Now it's time to tailor your loads to your gun and you can be having a whole lot more fun.

I used to shoot over there at Garland Public Shooting Range. It's too darned crowded these days though.

Congrats on getting into reloading.

Congrats on your 1st loads. Now to bring the group in tighter, the joy of reloading.

It's been over 25 yrs since I shot at the Garland range. Now I mainly shoot handgun so I shoot at a indoor range near me.

Nice shooting!

If I were loading more based on your results, I'd load at 41 even and call it good. But I'm not striving for sub-MOA accuracy, and I like to load at even grains unless there's a good reason not to.

You may have a good reason...but there's not a significant different between your 40.8 and your 41.2 groups.

Its a really great feeling isn't it? Even now several decades later, I still get a great deal of satiisfaction from knowing that it's my stuff going down range and putting game meat on the table.

With my Boys, I started them loading shotshell at a very early age on a Mec 600 JR.. Once they catch the shooting and hunting bug, those mind wasting video games, and any other worthless activities, won't interrest them in the least.

Congratualtions on your first loads. And just let me say, keep doing what your doing with your Son, and you'll have a long and fullfilling life with your children.

So you built your own ammo and got your son to help! That a win-win right there alright, well done...

My boys are 10 and 14. The ten year old is much more interested in how the press works. He helped me measure out some loads and watched me seat the bullets.

I had wanted to start reloading about 6 years ago. Always saved my brass. Well now I can finally do it. A big reason is my sons really enjoy when we go to the range. We shoot rifles, shotguns and a pistol. If they are interested i'll teach them the whole set up. Plus at $35 a box for 243 wssm I just don't see them getting any cheaper.

Picked up 500 FC stamped 243 wssm brass. Hoping that will keep me going for several years.

500 pieces is a good start for rifle brass :p
Better get more when you can find them cheap as you will get about 4-5 loads out of them before they split. Most say its with heavy loads tho.....YMMV

I have already lost count but I know there is over 20 fireings on my sons & my 243 brass. He uses FC & I have Win. That is the easiest way to tell them apart.

I have a 243 and 243 wssm. It's the wssm I got the extra brass for. 500 unfired fc stamped brass, not the nickel plated, cost me 185 shipped. I keep hearing the wssm brass does not hold up like other brass due to the higher pressures.

I don't want any brass eaters. The AR is bad enough to deal with.
