Hi All!

Newbie to the forum!

I have a CZ 550 American in 6.5 x 55 Swedish and really want to replace the factory bottom metal with Oberndorf style (i.e. floorplate release inside the bow).

I'm having real problems tracking down anyone who makes such a part for a standard length action - any suggestions?

Would I be able to modify and/or use Mauser 98 Bottom Metal?

Any help much appreciated.

You might try contacting Bijou creek. They had Duane Wiebe make them some for their big bores, I don't know if they had any made for standard actions. If they did be prepared to drop $400-500

Thanks dirtyjim!

I've seen Duane Wiebe's magnum bottom metal - looks great. I suppose I should ping him an e-mail and see if he could produce the same in a standard action size.

If the spacing on the action screws on my CZ are the same as a long action Mauser 98 or Parker Hale would it be possible to modify bottom metal from one of those and/or fill any hidden voids in the stock? Just trying to think laterally a.k.a. save hard earned bucks:D

i've never compaired cz550 and mauser bottom metal so i can't tell you if its possible to adapt mauser bottom metal. usually if the action holes line up the mag box is way off or you run into another issue.
usually it takes a minimum run of around 30 pcs before anyone will consider making bottom metal and thats just to keep it around the $400 mark.

you might also try contacting ptg to see if they are considering doing a run of 550 bottom metal

Already contacted PTG but they've no plans for CZ 550's at the moment, and it doesn't look like Blackburn or Sunny Hill do them either. If I had the time I'd do the CAD drawings, CNC G-code and try to get the parts fabricated over here.
