Ran across an old, expired thread about this, and thought I add the following:

There are at least two adapters out there for the Mosin. I have both of the ones I know about. One allows use of the 7.62x25 tokarev roundl and the other allows for using 32 ACP/32 S&W Short/ 32 S&W Long/32 H&R Magnum pistol cartridges in rifle. They cost around $15 each. from sportsmanguide.com, all though others also sell them. Haven't been to the range yet, so can't give any report on accuracy, etc., yet. I bought them to have some pot getting options, ballistic practice, etc.

Probably better served in the rifle subforum.
I bought them both a couple of years ago. I fired them both out of an M44 at 25 yards off of a bench.
With the .32 ACP insert I could hit somewhere on a sheet of 8.5x11 inch paper.
With the 7.62 Tok insert the round would impact somewhere on the target stand, 'somewhere' being the best description.
I hope you get better results.
