Can a solid or vent rib be added to a shotgun that doesn't have one? Approximate cost?

Thanks

Tom

That's like asking how much car tires cost. A cheap domestic car can get tires for under $50 each but a European sports car might only take tires that run over $1,000 each.

IOW: What kind of shotgun?

For the Rem 870, it'd probably be easier and cheaper to buy a replacement barrel. And I don't even know if that separate part is available to gunsmiths.

Simmons wants $1,250 for a vent rib on a Win Model 12 but that includes a complete refinish. When I was into trap shooting in the late 70's - early 80's I knew several guys that found a good field grade Model 12 and had Simmons reworked it into a trap grade with the addition of Trap stock and fore end, and a Simmons trap Rib. They where beautiful guns after Simmons finished the work. Since Simmons did the original production work for Winchesters factory OEM trap grade model 12's you couldn't tell the difference without checking the serial number against factory records.

Don't know if this conversion is popular any more.
