Greetings All,

Eyeballing a High Standard Supermatic Citation 103 - seller says its 80% condition with one mag (see pic) - doesn't come with the weights or the longer barrel w/compensator, comes with one mag. What would you say the fair price for this would be?

Buyer can't really comment on any history details or quirks as he is selling this for a friend, Its kinda nearby so I can take a look at it. Even if the bore and other things look good - how high is the possibility that this may just be a paperweight?

Response from seller:
"I really cant answer many of your questions.
The pistol belonged to my friends parents who use to shoot bullseye matches in the 70's.
It comes with 1 magazine, thats all I have for it."

Just wanted to add a note:

If I go take a look at this pistol - is there anything in particular I should look out for? Particular places on the frame that may be prone to fractures (hopefully no high velocity ammo was used)

Thanks!

That is not 80% condition, based on what I can see in the photos scratches, rust and who knows what condition the rifling is, what does the crown look like, if dinged then forget it, it will cost you more to put it back in A-1 condition (springs, firing pin, new screws in the pistol grip (really buggered up) re-barreled, new springs for the mag (they are rusting), additional mags, etc...) than if you buy a new pistol.

Sorry maybe $25.00 or $50.00 tops.

Just took a look at the photos again, did you know that is rust on the trigger, will need to replace the extractor spring as well, deep pitting on the barrel both sides, I would just pass on this gun.

Thanks for chiming in Jim,

I was looking at the pictures again and was asking myself...80% looks like this? I would think at 80%, some minor pitting and corrosion, but really looking at...it looks like it was just plain abused/neglected.....oh well...

My friend, that pistol is in no way 80%, that POS is closer to 10%. My advice is to stay away from it unless it's fifteen bucks. Worth that much for parts.

High Standards are great target pistols but as others have said that one have been abused like no firearm should ever be. Even my beater pump Mossberg 12ga isn't that rough. Honestly I would give maybe $50 for it just to use for plinking.

Pretty good rust damage and the Fitz stocks reduce the value out of a collector piece! I'd say $200 would be a fair price if it fires a mag full of CCI mini mags ok. Knock $100 off if it doesn't! BTW if it was 90% or better the gun would be worth $600+ depending on condition and accessories .

$200 is a fair price if it functions okay, which it probably will. I am not a real fan of the High Standards, but I have seen more than a few of them in worse condition that functioned fine.

Standard Velocity 22LR ONLY
Can you remove the barrel & slide? If so check for a crack in the magazine well in the receiver. From a worn recoil spring and using high velocity ammo.
Rusty, dirty = ?abused?
