Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski ?

Nightforce, Schmit & Bender, the list goes on and on. Truthfully is there that much difference that warrants a $1500 - $3000 scope from a $500 - $750 dollar scope ?? Any owners of these brands or others in that price range, please school me! I am not trying to be a smart a**, I just want to be educated. Thanks !
