my girls sig 230 is a great little shooter. Accurate as can be and I love it, would like to get one myself. I have 1 concern though....after about 100 rounds I noticed the slide was "barely" grazing the top web of my hand. Not enough to cut me, but after about 100 rounds...did wear a little skin away. It has hogue grips on it....will I be able to get a lower grip on it using the origional grips? Is there a way to get the bevertail extended?

Don't know what the Hogues do for hand position, but my 230 doesn't bite and my hands are plenty thick. Try the stock grips.

FWIW: My Sig 232 (new version of 230) plowed a furrow in the top of my hand about every 25 rounds. Mine had stock grips. I have fairly small hands. Got rid of that very nice gun because of the bloodletting. Wish now I'd tried Hogues before selling it. Find a stock one and try it on for size. Everyone's hands and hold are unique. The guns are very nice. It would probably be my choice for CCW if I CCW'd. But for regular shooting it was unpleasant for me due to the bite. I don't think it's equal to the Sig in quality (I've had both), but the Bersa Thunder in .380 has an extended beavertail-like extension that prevents the bite...if you're looking for a .380. It's reliable and less expensive but again, it's no Sig. Had a Beretta Cheetah (where do they get those names?) in .380. Very nice gun and no bite. Might have been a tad bulker than the Sig.

I bought Hogues for mine, hoping to help with slide bite. They didn't work for me, in fact I think they made it worse. After one range session, I took off the Hogue's and went back to stock grips.

I think the deal is that Hogues seem to allow less room for the shooter to adjust his grip like the stock ones do. I'm okay with this gun with stock grips as long as I think "low grip" when I pick it up. Hogues only want to position my hand one place and that place didn't work for me.

If anyone wants a set of Hogues used only one day, let me know.

I like the Nills grips on mine.

JAR, I'd be curious to know if you experienced slide bite before you put on your Nills and if the Nills fixed your problem. Nills look classy, but I wouldn't want to shell out the $ for them if there wasn't good probability they would help with the slide bite problem.

I too would like to know. The hogues that are on the gun place my hand just about right. But if I do not grip the gun "just right" that slide will graze the top of my hand. Painful but not bloody. I have a guy I work with that the slide actually sliced into his hand because he gripped it high with the factory grips on it. OUCH!!! he had to quit shooting to go bleed somewhere else. He put hogues on and is having the same problem as me.....we get grazed if not holding just right. I would prefer NO contact at all.

As much as I liked my 230, the permanent scar on the web of my hand reminds me why I sold it after a month of use.

I've the hogue grips on mine and have not had any problem, in fact i can pick up the gun i n the dark, or grab quickly and i always have that cushion of about a half inch under the slide! Sometimes having an avg. hand with skinny fingers does pay off, LOVE that 232 sl!!!!

Have not had a problem with my 232 with stock and now Hogue grips. Now my PPK will bite a bit if not gripped properly.
