BCRider May 11, 2012, 01:16 PM Nice job! Keep 'em coming please. I already watched your Garrand operating video and it was a noticable improvement over the quality of the original as posted on Youtube by other folks. PTMCCAIN May 11, 2012, 01:21 PM Roger wilco, sir. In fact, I will be cleaning up the shooting position video. I realized that the shooting position is about thirty minutes long and I had not downloaded the whole thing, and so it got cut off at the end. I'll be reediting it and releasing all of it, in two parts. I sure wish somebody could find the original movie itself, for then we could get a super high quality digital transfer directly from film and really improve it a lot and ...we would have the missing Part 1: Shooting and Aiming. I've scoured the Internet but to no avail. If anyone has it or knows where to get it, I'd love to get it processed. FlyinBryan May 11, 2012, 01:27 PM ive seen most of those but also have not run across the sighting chapter, if there is one it would be awesome. maybe talking about sight picture, drop and wind compensation, etc,,,, i could swear i saw it one time somewhere but havent been able to find it PTMCCAIN May 11, 2012, 01:35 PM I'm going to keep digging around. There is a source for all the various versions of the training films floating around, and somewhere you know there is the original film version just gathering dust. If we could get that, it is amazing what can be done with film to digital transfer. Heck, if we had unlimited funds we could even colorize it. That would be cool. The subject of windage and using the sights is covered in the series available, I suspect that the first one was explaining the fundamentals of the Garand's sight picture. Just a guess though, obviously. Trebor May 11, 2012, 07:35 PM Nice edit. Archive.org has all the parts except for that elusive Part 1. That's not on the net anywhere, as far as I can tell. Maybe someone can do a hand search of the National Archives for it sometime. BCRider May 11, 2012, 11:28 PM Heck, if we had unlimited funds we could even colorize it. OK, that will be QUITE enough of sniffing the cleaning solvents for YOU! ! ! ! Some things are best enjoyed as they were presented in classic B&W. Kush May 11, 2012, 11:32 PM I have a question about the video, at the end it says you aren't supposed to put your thumb along side the stock and are supposed to put it on or over the stock, why is this? PTMCCAIN May 12, 2012, 09:22 AM I hope to reedit and repost this video, along with the rest of this portion, at some point this weekend.
