Three days ago my wife's co-worker called and asked me If I could use my truck and trailer to move a big old radial arm saw for him. He said he's heard my wife talk about me fixing up old guns and wanted to know if I'd take an old .22 as payment for my services. I told him no payment was needed but if he set it in my lap I wouldn't turn it down. Log story short I got the saw moved and was looking forward to my prize. He comes out to the garage carrying a long wood case with NRA engraved into the top. He opens it up and sure nuff there sits an NRA Remington Target Rifle cool old Lyman sights and all. He then told me to quit drooling and don't get my hopes up cause this wasn't the gun he was telling me about. Talk about a teaser. He just thought I'd like to see it. He then said this is your gun and pulled a wad of old bed sheet from the rafters of his garage. Dang ! What was inside was a surprise. A Remington 121 Field Master pump action .22lr. The blueing was well not great with a light finish of surface rust in several places and the action was locked up tighter than a drum. Still not bad for just moving a saw. I took it home and stripped it down. The wood was in pristine condition. No rust at all inside with a nice bright bore. A little time with some steel wool and most of the rust cleaned off. The only reason it was locked up was whoever had put it back together last did it incorrectly. I took it out to shoot yesterday and the cans died an honorable death at 50 yards.
