I searched for several weeks in every shop within 50 miles of Fort Worth and even the Fort Worth gun show last weekend with no success. However, within minutes of posting my frustrations on THR, a member in NC pointed me to his LGS who was loaded with Colts! That is how a forum should work!

I did not even take the time to wipe down the shipping oil before shooting these pics.

Slide-to-frame fit is great and pistol is pristine, as a NIB pistol should be. Ambi-safety is perfect and trigger is surprisingly good for all the bad things I hear about the Series 80 system. I have already ordered parts to replace the dreaded FLGR and the nylon MSH with Ed Brown SS parts and then she will be done. May get the trigger worked, but I want to run several hundred rounds through it before doing so.

I have a real nice DW 1911 and have even owned a Les Baer before, but I've been wanting a Colt 1911 for years

Won't get a chance to shoot it until Monday.

Congrats on your nice XSE, it should serve you for a very long time. I would also lock tight the rear sight screw once you've adjusted for POA/POI, mine worked loose early on.

XSEs have a reputation for being reliable out of the box with little to no break in time. You can mix in SWCs, ball and JHPs using different manufacturer magazines and it will be good to go.

Looking forward to your range report. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Hoping to shoot tomorrow. In response to the MIM question, I found the following info on a forum that referenced this information from the Colt Forum on M1911.org. Can anyone vouch for the accuracy of this information?

How the current Colt 1911 pistol parts made:

MIM

magazine catch lock

CAST

FORGED

MACHINED from bar stock
