rayatphonix May 12, 2012, 11:36 AM I expect to spend $500 to $700. It's for a bolt action rifle; 6.5 Rem Mag. I'm looking at Nikon Monarch and Leopold 3. I want a mimimum magnification of 12, but higher would be OK. Have I missed some brands I ought to be considering?

Haxby May 12, 2012, 12:31 PM Any Bushnell, Meopta, Minox, Sightron, or Vortex in that price range should be a pretty good scope.
rayatphonix May 13, 2012, 05:11 AM I'd looked at the Bushnell, Sightron and Vortex, but not the Minox. It looks like a great deal. I'd also handled the Meopta, but couldn't find a reticle I liked (but it may just be what they had in stock). Thanks.
chaser_2332 May 13, 2012, 09:58 AM Does it matter to u if it's ffp or second?
Haxby May 13, 2012, 11:31 AM There are lots of different reticules available in the VX3, through their custom shop.

What kind of reticle are you looking for? People might have some suggestions for you if they know a little more about what you are looking for.
NELSONs02 May 13, 2012, 08:17 PM My Vortex up for grabs if you're interested.

Whatever you do, go with a mil reticle and 1/10 mil knobs and forget all this inch/MOA crap
TurtlePhish May 13, 2012, 08:31 PM SWFA SS HD series, right around $700, mil/mil knobs, ridiculously good tracking, great glass.
rayatphonix May 14, 2012, 09:40 AM As far at reticles, I prefer something with very fine lines; I've got a SWFA 10X that has a reticle I love. Obviously #4 is out as it seems as heavy as there is. I'm intrigued by the Minox XR BDC but can't find any information from someone that's actually used it and their web site gives very little information. I've got a Nikon with BDC and am somewhat indifferent to it; not bad, but not perfect.
All the suggestions are helpful. These other brands are intriguing and please keep the ideas coming.
rayatphonix May 14, 2012, 05:10 PM Nelson, I've sent you an email.
Centurian22 May 17, 2012, 05:22 AM I do not own one but am considering one myself. It seems to be a little below your price range but I feel it deserves to be checked out:
WOTAC scopes:

This is just one, they have several. Major benefit is seemingly unquestioned lifetime warranty.
Do with it what you will just my $0.02.
rayatphonix May 17, 2012, 09:26 AM I'm getting his Vortex he's got for sale. I'll put it on a different rifle (an AR shooting 6.5 Creedmoor) and take the scope I've got on the Creedmoor and put it on the 6.5 mag. I've heard good things about the Vortex and his offer put it in my price range. Thanks for all the advice!
