Hardest flat/matte black finish for all-steel gun?

Not impressed with the blue finish on my favorite all-steel gun, so looking to refinish it with the most durable flat/matte black finish available. Suggestions?

I talked to this guy one time, bought a DW Valor from him, about the hardhat treatment. This process changes the molecular makeup of the metal itself so it is not even a coating. Amazing.
