It´s Spanish from Argentina

At the beginning of the note says that they decided to post a picture archive about powder shape and recognition because nobody have done this in the internet previously, some powder are from factory use only.

The person who posted this works at CEsBa (Centro de Estudios Balísticos ROSARIO) meaning ballistics study centre of Rosario (province of Argentina)

Hope this helps!

Thanks Nick

I miss these French pistol powders (SNPE/Vectan), which were lately "distributed" under the Nobel name. Well, I did have a couple of surprises with them, but it kept me on my toes...

Despite the size of their flakes, the A's would meter more reliably than our local products in my Auto-Disk; probably because these flakes are flat.

BTW: Are they still available in Argentina? And do you know about that Sunflower Paper test?

Well ... I didn't have the opportunity to use one of those powders

Nobody carries those powders now and I bet nobody wont carry this here for a looooong time :(

I have no clue what is the Sunflower paper test ...

"control con papel de tornasol para determinar su nivel de acidez" in the linked post.

It would tell you if your powder is turning bad.

I cannot find a clear (to me) explanation on how to conduct that test.

I use Google Chrome as my browser and it has a translate function. It's not perfect, but you can get the idea. Probably IE and Mozilla Firefox have translation modules also. Images are great.

Googling around for ""control con papel de tornasol para determinar su nivel de acidez"... this appears to be a litmus paper (papel de tornasol) test. I located a reference to such a test here ( http://www.sandia.gov/esh/supplements/mn471011/m011c02a01.htm ); the gunpowder is stored with litmus paper and checked periodically. Apparently, if the gunpowder is acidic, that is an indication that it's breaking down.
