Any chance of me ever scoring a Camelbak (something like a BFM) in light gray, or are they all black, OD or some sort of camo? :(

Yes. Camelbak originally was created for recreation sports, but was adapted to military ops when troops figured out Camelbaks were better than canteens.

Skunk,
I agree with ocabj -- look for non-LE hydration units. This also means looking at outfits that make hydration-compatible backpacks but NOT hydration systems. A lot of daypacks and larger backpacks feature hydration sleeves as standard equipment. Therefore, if you find a pack that works for you -- just buy a separate Camelbak Unbottle or similar system and you're good to go. Don't limit yourself to just integrated "pack and hydration system" offerings.
For example, the Lowe Alpine Attack 20 (1,200 cu in) is available in slate gray.

Go to Campmor and run a search for "hydration" -- I'm certain you will find a hydration-compatible pack in a color that works for you.

I've actually decided that most packs that support hydration bladders aren't that great. I like some of the Camelbaks because the bladder is in a seperate pocket. Other packs have a sleeve that holds the bladder in the main compartment. The problem is that you have to practically empty your pack to get to the bladder to refill it.

Anyone know if the Oakley icon urban geekpack supports a hydration unit?
