PRM May 14, 2012, 08:44 PM Snap caps are always a sure bet. I have always been told the older style S&Ws were OK to dry fire and I have done it on a limited basis for over 30 years without snap caps. Not so much now, as I did years ago when I first started shooting. I personally have never had any problems from dry firing a revolver. glocking26 May 15, 2012, 05:07 AM Thanks ArchAngelCD May 15, 2012, 11:51 PM Even though it's supposed to be safe to fire that revolver without snap caps I just don't feel comfortable pulling the trigger 500 or more times without them. IMO snap caps are a cheap insurance policy.
