Been shopping for a beater to throw in the truck and scored this at the LGS. Chambered in 38 SPCL it has a zamak frame, apparently two-piece barrel (barrel & shroud), top ported, made in Germany. Logo says HWM, imported by EAA in Florida. Anyone have/had one or know anything about 'em?

Despite being low-rent it seems solid with a decent trigger and lock-up.

After much web crawling (god, I hate dial-up) looks like it, though so far I've found no pics eggzackly like this'n. Found the HWM/Arminius site after a bit and apparently they're still in business. As I suspected they take the basic frame and just change barrels/sights/grips to make the different models. Also, at least in the 357 version, they use a steel frame. Coulda done worse for a bargain blaster I guess.

I have one in.22lr, and I have enjoyed it, I think you did well for a truck gun

Hehe. Definitely cool in that "What is this?!" way. Hope it's as much as it looks.

Took it out for testing today & ran a cylinder of 158gr LRN's through it. Just a tiny fleck of lead on the top of the forcing cone, but otherwise no real splattering. Guess the indexing is OK if a little sloppy. Turned the gun up and popped the cylinder, three empties just fall out, and the other three extracted smoothly. No signs of bulging or primer problems.

Tomorrow I'm off to do the Spring recon at the farm and will see how accurate, or not, this thing is.

Six rounds, single action, strong hand, unsupported, at 25'. Definitely not the best group I've ever put together. I blame the flyer on my shaky arm, having run the chainsaw just prior to shooting. Still, adequate enough for up close & personal.

Had a Weihrauch .357 Mag single action years ago. A fairly accurate copy of a 4-5/8" Colt SAA, and made that sweat "click-click-snick" sound when slowly cocked. It even had a Ruger-style passive safety, so six rounds could be carried safely. Bought it (used), and sold it a few years later, for $200.
