I have been thinking about getting a .22. I have a Sig 226 9mm and so was thinking about getting the conversion kit rather than buy a separate .22 pistol. However, I have heard some negatives about the Sig .22 conversion kits like the slide not locking back after the last round is fired and I've also heard that certain types of ammo does not feed well.

Is this true about the slide not locking? I was thinking there was a work around for this or something you can buy for your gun that will remedy the problem.

Any thoughts, advice about buying the conversion kit?

I have the conversion kit for my SIG 226ST that I use for teaching and think it was a great investment

The kit is not designed with a hold open feature, but there is an aftermarket kit from SigPower (http://www.sigpower.com/) which will keep the slide from closing after the last round.

The factory recommendation is to use CCI MiniMags with the conversion. That is what I feed it and haven't had any function problems...I haven't tried it with any bulk ammo
