Well, it's time for another shoot.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 11:00 A.M.

So far, four of us are getting together at the infamous Dump*, which is 12 miles past Estacada on Highway 224. Very easy to find, and a real nice drive on the Upper Clackamas River. This old rock quarry is approx 2 miles past the first bridge (Memaloose) and on the left by a large power tower. Range is approx 85 yards with plenty of room.

Figured 11:00 a.m. would give folks enough time to get up there. Would be good to meet some new people.

Rain or Shine!!!!!

Hopefully, some Washington shooters willing to make the drive can come too?

I drove by 'The Dump' last week. The road has been blocked by one of those concrete barriers, backed by some big boulders. Of course, you can still park at the lower level and walk up, but if you're carrying very much gear, it'll be a hassle. There's always the rock quarry seven miles up Memmaloose Road...

It wasn't blocked last Sunday. Besides, it's a 35 ft rise and a very short walk of 20 yards.

Come on up, and I'll help you carry your stuff, OldFart.

Heard about that other spot, but haven't seen it yet. Already got several people arriving at the Dump.

We usually do the shoots on Sunday, so maybe next time Chet. Don't want to see anybody lose work.

Howdy!
The wife and I are contemplating a move to Oregon in a year or two.
I should say the wife is contemplating, since I would start packing today if she agreed.
So I guess there's lots of places to shoot up there?
I have a friend in Springfield, looking at Albany. Where's a good place to live up there, from your standpoint?
We are looking for a middle sized town, Libertarian maybe?

Carlos
February 19, 2004, 02:36 PM
Well, I guess I would say anywhere in the Willamette Valley (Eugene north to Portland), which includes Albany. Looks like your best bet for work would be Portland and the surrounding areas.

Oregon is very gun friendly, including Class III. However, forget about Class III in Multnomah County (Portland) - Sheriff won't sign off, I hear. Very easy to get CHL though. Plus, Multnomah County now has it's own income tax. :(

There are many clubs in town and more places to shoot out in the boonies, which are an average 1 hour drive from town.

Good luck.

Thanks, Carlos.

NO problem. By the way, if I could find work in Baker City, Oregon (eastern), I'd jump on it in a second. Lots of beautiful country in Oregon.

There's also Brown's Camp in Tillamook State Forest, too.

I've heard different, that Giusto would sign off on Class 3 NFA stuff. He used to do the same thing when he was Gresham PD chief.

As for Multnomah County's income tax...whatever. I live in Washington County, and there's a chance I might have to move to Washington State anyway.

Hmmm. That's good. :) Hope that's true. I want a C&R Class III in my future. Funny that a municipality such as Gresham would be able to sign off on Class III apps, when it's under the jurisdiction of Multnomah County; i.e., Chief LEO??. Of course, we both know that Guisto is now Multnomah County Sheriff. Hope that's true about him.

"whatever" only means about $600 out of my pocket that I have to pay retroactively for the year 2003 on April 15. "whatever" sucks. "Whatever" LMAO. That's a CMP Garand!!!!!!, plus ammo. :(

Washington might have its advantages.

So, Lonnie, you going shooting with us tomorrow, or did you just want to pipe in?

11:00 a.m.

Nice sunday morning, checking out the web and you guys gotta remind me of that damn retroactive f*ck tax :banghead: Man I hate Portland. How can any place with such liberal laws regarding "exotic dancing" and "private lingerie shows" be so screwed up??? It's just wrong I tell you.

Anyway, how often do you guys go out there? I only have one gun, a lowly Desert Eagle .44, but it's fun and i'd like to take it out for some light destruction.

Bang, sorry for the late response. I didn't see your message until I came back. Maybe next time we can meet up. I'm planning to go again in about three weeks when I get my FAL back from DSA.

February 22, 2004, 09:13 PM
Well, we had a great shoot. It's an hour's drive getting through city of Portland traffic until the fun part, where you're driving like man and car were meant to be.

12 folks showed up from different gunboards. Had a good time.

We shoot twice a week, if you're interested about the seriousness of our shooting habits.

Next time, perhaps?

I have an opening for One (1) on Thursday, if anybody wants to shoot at Johnson Creek Gun Club. 7:45 pm sharp at the door. PM if you want to check out the facility as my guest.

I'd like too but I have a three day work week and Sunday is the only day I have off on the weekend. So let me know if you guys go out on Sunday. I live out in Forest Grove but with a little notice I can make it.
