Anybody used the .45ACP 10-round magazine? Like or dislike? Pros and Cons?
Thanks!

Holds 3 too many rounds.

I get by nicely with standard 7-round mags, and knowing how to change them real fast.

Plus, I can leave them fully loaded for decades without the springs getting weak from over-compression.

I bought one many years ago that has never been unloaded for more than a couple of minutes at a time. It still works fine. I only use mine at the range and bought it primarily as a novelty, but it does work.

I've never tried them. It appears that neither has rcmodel.

Thats easy for you to say.

There are very few 1911 mags I haven't tried & discarded over the last 50 years of fixing 1911's that didn't work.

Years ago, in my 45 days, I had several Wilson 8 round magazines they never feed as well as the Colt factory magazines. Have no idea about the 10 round version.

I find Chip McCormac "Shooting Star" 8-round magazines to be highly reliable in my three full size M1911-style guns. That's all I use.

Ok thanks guys! I haven't heard too many negative things about Wilson Combat standard size mags, so I figured I'd just ask about the 10 rounder. I have heard a few bad things about the McCormicks, though.

Either you haven't looked very hard or you've looked in the wrong places. There is a reason they replaced the 47D with the ETM magazines

I'm on board with rcmodel. Here is a blog post from the late Mr. Camp I often refer new 1911 users or those just asking 1911 mag questions.

While I never met or spoke with Mr. Camp, I learned a lot from him via his Hi-Powers and Handguns site. This is one of the more valuable lessons I learned. I hope this valuable resource remains available.

Range use? "Because they make it and it holds 10 rounds?" Suit yourself.

Serious application in a dedicated defensive 1911? In a 1911-style pistol I prefer to stick with 7-rd magazines, or an 8-rd magazine that has had the box increased in length to optimize functioning with the "extra" round.

Folks can suit themselves.

I do.

I've seen all manner of things happen on training, practice & qual ranges over the years. It's certainly had an influence on what I prefer to use. ;)

I'm with fastbolt ... such devices are fun for range toy use

Don't just take RC's word for it. From the Gospel according to JMB his own self...

And the profaning of the internal parts didst render it unworkable when the dust of the land fell upon it, and these profaners didst try and fit more rounds of ammunition into the magazines than the holy number of seven, appointed for the .45.

After a number of reliability issues with Wilson mags in 38 Super, I don't own any Wilson mags in 45 auto.

I have a pair of Colts/45 auto that see a lot of carry time and they keep going and going and going. In addition to Colt mags, MecGar and CMC Power Mags have proven to be very reliable for over a decade.

10 rounders are for Zombie herds. I like 8.

Interesting you should bring up the F150 in thread about Wilson mags, but here in the desert where we do a LOT of driving on washboard dirt roads, the F150s, for those who don't drive diesel 4x4s, are having problems with broken rear axles.

Given the Wilson reliability problems with the Colt and Para 1911/38 Super (all 6 magazines), I see no reasons to purchase any more Wilson mags because of the longevity and durability of other brands of magazines, IMHO. :)

I found the new Wilson ETM mags to be reliable in all of my 1911's. I have 3 McC 10-rd mags that always seem to work fine in my 1911's when I use them for range work.

If one is serious about 1911s or serious about fun they should make a point to have enough magazines to not worry about shoving a few more rounds in each.

I've never understood how having a higher capacity magazine makes shooting more fun, unless what's being shot is fully automatic.

I have a WC 10 rounder that I found on the range in the late 90's. I use it if I feel like running something like a GSSF 10 round course but using a 1911 instead of a Glock. I've run thousands of rounds through it with no problems, have no idea what it's history was before I found it. It's ran perfectly for me in many different 1911's.
