It wont load A NEW ROUND

I just bought a like new FN Browning HP 9 mm in the T number serie. It wil not cook the hammer again when fired. The round sits in the chamber but the hammer is not cooked.I has tried more powerfull rounds still the same problem. If you do it by hand it ejekt a round and chamber a new and goes boom ok.When you operate the slide and hammer by hand you has to use a lot off power.I has cleaned and oiled the gun realy good but i dont think it has been fired before now. I cheked my other auto pistols and they needed a lot less power to move the slide and hammer.

Hello to Denmark.
It sounds like you many have an extra heavy spring. I do not have any information of the weight of a standard spring for the Browning. But it sure sounds like the spring since it is very difficult to cock. Look for another Browning and exchange the spring and see if you have better results. Good luck!

get yourself a new recoil spring like these (I have no idea if they ship internationally). Maybe someone here can recommend a spring weight.

Let me make sure I understand: When you load the pistol by hand, the hammer stays cocked and will shoot, but on the next shot, the hammer is down with a fresh round in the chamber?
If that's the case, the sear and hammer should be checked out. This sounds like "hammer follow," meaning the hammer doesn't stay cocked when the slide cycles on its own.
If you know enough about the Hi Power to detail strip the frame, you could look at the sear and hammer yourself. If you aren't comfortable doing that, it should go to a gunsmith.

crv, how did you buy this HP from? Like new condition?
I agree with BHPshooter. It sounds like the hammer is following. Of course, I'm just speculating, but did you get the gun for a really good price? It's entirely possible that the former owner did some "work" to the pistol and decided to dump it when it didn't work out for him.
It almost seems as though some people think that they become a gunsmith when they get a High Power or 1911.

I have a friend south of Roskilde who could help you, but I haven't spoken to him in a long time.

Hard to tell exactly, but it sounds like he's saying that the brass from the expended round is staying in the chamber and he has to hand-cycle in a new round to load and cock it.
If that's the case, my guess is someone was playing with the recoil springs and decided to put in an extra heavy one. Try a stock or even slightly reduced weight spring and see if that solves it.

I would replace the recoil spring. Could also check out the sear/hammer but sounds like that is OK "If you do it by hand it ejekt a round and chamber a new and goes boom ok".

Just because you can cycle it by hand without the hammer falling doesn't mean that the hammer/sear are ok.
One test that you can do, with the weapon verified to be unloaded, is lock the slide back, then push down on the slide release and let it fall forward under the full spring tension. See if the hammer stays cocked.

Does the hammer drop to the half-cock notch?
If the hammer hooks and sear nose have not been messed with it is not the sear and hammer.
I would look at the Sear Spring. If you remove it and bend it forward it will get more sear engagement. If the hammer holds it is a sear spring issue. The bend will work for a bit but it is such a cheap easy replacement I would simply swap it out. It is only a $10 part.

Just find some NATO pressure loadings...
I would NOT try to shoot what may be overloads out of a High Power.

I wont reload to more than Nato specifikations for any gun.I know that the older HP models do not like even that much power for a longer periode off time
