Identify garza`s rifle?

I watched a tape of THE STREETS OF LAREDO recently. What rifle did Joey Garza use? I thought the rifle looked like a variant of the Schmidt-Rubin, maybe sporterized but I`m not 100% certain. Can anyone ID it?
