Hornady bullet feed die small problem

Got a hornady bullet feeder die in .45 a couple weeks ago and this thing works pretty well! It holds 8-10 200gr Rainier RN (plated) bullets without any tube and it works fine. However, I started playing with a short 2ft long tube on the top and started noting some double feeds. I thought it was too much weight but I see other people putting tubes that look 3-6ft long and I dont see any issue with double feeds for them.

It was working perfectly for about 30 feeds and then started getting double feeds on every one until the tube was empty and it only had about 8 bullets in the die. I know good and well the tube that comes with the bullet feeder will hold more than whats in the die and put more weight on the dropped bullet. I checked my case expansion and it is .481 like the manual calls for.

I was thinking about playing with raising the die...raising it until one bullet drops and then adding more to see. Anyone else run across this problem?

By the way I REALLY like this bullet feeder die! Its a whole lot better than the RCBS...it actually works. It really does speed up reloading time...would be faster if I didnt have to constantly load bullets into the die. :)

I believe that either Hornady or ultimate reloader has a setup video up on YouTube.
Mine works flawlessly using the Hornady bullet feeder.

Did you disassemble and clean everything as per instructions?

Yep cleaned them per the instructions before I started. I took it apart when it started acting up but dont see anything that might be causing a problem. I am going to clean the collets again...maybe it picked up some oil or other residue from the plated bullets...yeah just guessing here.

Bowfishrp, I'm having the same problem with double feeds using the same bullets. I also sometimes get no feed. I'm wondering if you came up with a solution. Thanks
