To make a long story short I will be moving to S Florida (West Palm) and will be taking a job in private security. In order to do this I need a class G license. With that being said I would need to buy a pistol, specifically a 9mm auto. Where is the best buy place to go in S Florida somewhere around West Palm?

Check out Shoot Straight...It's out on Southern near the Turnpike....West of I 95. Their prices are a bit on the high side, but they have a Huge selection. You can also bargain with them with anything that they have in the pre-owned case. I have walked out of that store with a couple good deals. If you are looking for a run of the mill Glock or Springfield etc. you probably won't find a better deal on something of that nature because they buy so many of them to resell. Unique items, as I mentioned, seem to be a bit overpriced.

i have been in palm beach for the last 20 years....the only guy that sold discount was bill peoples, who has since retired....i do most of my shopping from gun broker, i found an ffl that does transferres for $15 plus $5 backround....gary

Well I'm a native Floridian but I left West Palm Beach 10 years ago. I will tell you this though guns shops used to be pretty abundant in Florida so I suggest you shop around for the best price. You might also check out the Pawn Shops if used is OK. There are also places on the net like Bud's etc that ship for free to a local FFL which might save you some money but doubt it once you pay the fees to the local guns shop.

Be advised that Shoot Straight generally posts MSRP on their guns. If you know what an item should cost, you can deal with them. A good rule of thumb is to offer 70% of their price and negotiate from there.

Other shops in the area are Palm Beach Shooting Center and Delray Shooting Center.

Or you could just wait and go to the gunshow at the SF Fairgrounds.

Gander Mountain, off Northlake Blvd, is known for having prices higher than most, but the last time I was in there, about five weeks ago, I was actually impressed with two things: a much greater selection of used handguns, and much closer-to-fair prices on many of them.
North-central Palm Beach County is my old stomping grounds, and I'm still down there from time to time.

There is a very good store called Gun Tech located on the Northern side of Broward County. (Ft. Lauderdale) He supplies several of the local police departments and is a really good guy and retired Marine to boot.

His name is Richard Duskin and his wife who works there is Nicole. Their prices are very reasonable if you compare buying from the cheaper online big outlets, like Buds.

He has helped me out with doing the Glock trigger mod for no charge. I can strongly recommend using him for your firearm purchases. and/or gun transfers.

Just be aware that he is only open Tuesday - Friday. He's located near I-95 and Commercial Blvd.
