Disassembling TRG...

Ok, I kind of want to have my TRG stock dipped and I am just wondering what all is involved with taking the stock off. I mean if it was as easy as my M1 carbine then I would have already done it. In any case, even if I manage to disassemble this thing I am worried about putting it back together without causing harm to the rifle. I mean I do not want to chance any accuracy problems or anything else that might occur. This is a very expensive rifle and I am a little nervous about taking it apart. What would you guys do?

Ok, is it that nobody has this rifle or that this is a stupid question? Just to be clear I am talking about a Sako TRG 22. Maybe I should have bought something more common.

Well be careful, follow the proper steps for disassembly, and carefully remove the action screws. It should separate then, and you should be ready. I do not have experience with your firearm, so this is mostly up to you.

Yeah, the problem is I am not 100% sure of the proper disassembly. I mean I can probably figure it out but at what cost? The manual is pretty lacking in any real instruction really, at least mine is and so far I have not found another manual that was more detailed. It does not even really talk about cleaning and maintenance.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out. It's quite simple really. Now I just have to figure out if I just want to spray paint it or send it off somewhere.

Having one for the past 7 years I have never needed to take mine apart. For thoses not familular with the TRG the stock is a 2 piece design that bolts to a chassis that holds the action.

^^^Thanks. I have no real reason to take mine apart other than the fact I want my stock to be something different than Black LOL, other than that she functions fine. I did however figure out how to take it apart and it is really easy. Its not as easy as an M1 Carbine but not too much more difficult nonetheless. What kind of scope, mount, and rings is that DubbleA?

If you are looking for a good mount take a look at SPUHR .There's no need for the rail, the mount instals directly on the action .It is a little pricy but since you have a TRG I think it is a good investment. It has a recoil lug that you can adjust to mach the rail on the action.Check out the model ST-4701 24moa/7MIL built in.
Good luck with your project .

^^^thanks! I will definitely check them out! I have heard of SPHUR before and read some reviews a few years back. I remember thinking that I wanted to go with their stuff at the time but it is pricey.

If you have your stock refinished...DO NOT have the company use thermal cured finishes. I was told by a company that it would take the heat and I refinished my TRG stock and it cracked in multiple places. I ended up having to buy the XLR chassis. It was only a $1,000.00 mistake.
Make sure that if you have someone refinish your stock that they use an air cured finish.
BTW the TRG is so simple to disassemble. My rifle didn't come with a manual and I was able to disassemble it in no time.
