I'm looking to pick up one to maybe use as an EDC but I don't know brands or what kind of prices I should be looking at for picking one up.

Any will do. They're unique enough that they're not being prostituted by cheap copies.

I bought one at the local knife shop a few months ago. There is a certain area or manufacturer here in Japan that has a copyright on the name. Some other knifemakers make them but they are not considered authentic, tho quality wise I don't know if there is much difference. The brass ones look real nice. On mine you can see the katana style steel sandwich on the blade. You need to be careful when you use them tho cause there is no lock or spring to keep the knife open. I wouldn't use it for work for example. It makes for a real nice gentlemans pocketknife though. They go for about $20 here in Tokyo.

That garret wade one looks just like mine, same writing on the brass. The other one is nice but not so authentic/traditional. These knives (the brass ones) were very popular among high school students a while back (maybe a good while back) for sharpening pencils. I still see the occasional one in the kids' pencil cases in my classes, tho they aren't really allowed. They make cheaper ones that have a chrome handle. I picked one up a few years ago at a second hand shop for $1. I'd go for the brass one.
