question what is a good gun grease for function and rust protection, or
would this really need to be two different products, some guns I normally
shoot and others will sit in safe stored, Have always used oil but tried
some grease for my ccw and its seems to work well.

I just use a cheap lithium-complex chassis grease. It's red like transmission fluid, not the creamy white lithium grease (although that would probably work too)

Unless grease is called for I just use BreakFree LP.

In the few instances that I do need grease, Lubriplate does well enough.

I have used Hi-Temp grease like ZXCVBob and got it from Wal-Mart.
I use it on my Stoger Cougar 8000F and have had ZERO malfunctions with my hand loads with it. I don't see any corrosion on it after 2 months where I had put it on the slides.

60% moly grease. A light coating will last a long time and moly embeds itself into the metal. My guns have no lube related failures.

Me too. On dissimilar mating surfaces: steel against alloy, steel against polymer, etc.

I use TW25b as well, I have the grease as well as the oil. It goes on everything to my lever action rifle to my AR. Works great and won't evaporate off like Remoil.

There are some positive reports around about Frog Lube. Not really a grease, but a paste.

I use Mobil1 grease on slow speed parts and parts whose finish I want to protect. Often I use Mobile1 on all parts. Always happy with Mobil1 products and put it in all of my cars and motorcycles. But I use Slip2000 EW on high-speed parts when I'm in the mood and/or am sure I'll be taking the gun back out in short order.
I just bought a small tube of Brian Eno's Slide-Glide to try out, but haven't tried it yet. But I don't think that is designed for rust protection in that it specifically doesn't spread out across an area.

I have moved away from lithium grease since I have found it can turn hard if left in an unused gun over a few months. I have used Luberex (for electronics) in a pinch, and the back of the label even mentions use in guns. Most of the time I use Shooter's Choice red grease in the little syringe, though.

For a "grease", and for stainless metal to metal contact points, I've used GunSlick graphite lube since it came out. Never had any galling problems with stainless (before they started using different alloys at contacting surfaces).
