Searching amazon I see two choices:

Hydrosorbent OSG-40 Silica Gel Dehumidifier Desiccant 40 Gram Orange NO Cobalt (II) Chloride (http://www.amazon.com/Hydrosorbent-OSG-40-Dehumidifier-Desiccant-Chloride/dp/B0037Z8K3E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1338231031&sr=8-3)
Pelican 1500D Peli Desiccant Silica 1500-500-000 (http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1500D-Desiccant-Silica-1500-500-000/dp/B0018O035O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338244194&sr=8-1)
40 Gram Silica Gel Desiccant - By Dry-Packs (http://www.amazon.com/Gram-Silica-Gel-Desiccant-Dry-Packs/dp/B006L882NM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1338244169&sr=8-4)

Here's a quote from the Pelican 1500D review:

I have purchased the Pelican brand Peli Desiccant before. These are knock-offs. The seller did not respond to my emails. I have notified Amazon and Pelican of the issue.

The knock-offs are seemingly nearly identical to the real deal. They contain slighlty less desiccant than Pelican brand. However, I don't appreciate the false claim that these are Pelican brand when they are not.

And there is this recommendation:

Get the cobalt-free version of the product to avoid cancer (orange)

Pelican also has their cobalt-free branded version on amazon. search for OSG-40.

Yet when I search pelican website I don't see OSG-40:
http://pelican.com/miscellaneous.php

And amazon OSG-40 searches don't seem to show a pelican name. I'm about to give up on Amazon and just shop through midway. Then again pelican probably just rebadges this stuff like mecgar magazines. It's silica gel so how bad can one screw this up?

Other than the cancerous cobalt chloride coloring that gets heated in your oven of course. :-p

Scary stuff, that. I went with the rechargeable electric units in mine and they work quite well but I have the luxury of living in Arizona too. I need to pull mine out based on the color indicator about every 2-3 months to plug in and dry out the pellets.

I'm going to be looking closely at mine when I'm in the safes today to see if I can get a read on the potential hazards in my safes now.

Thanks for the heads up sorry about not having any direct input for you.

go to the store, find the Silica kitty litter, buy 8 pounds for what the S&H online would cost you, when it looks opaque, put in the oven at 200-250 for2-3hour to recharge it.

Wal-Mart.....its the crystal kitty litter stuff. Far as I know they only have the one type of it in 4 lb bags. IRIC it's only a dollar or two a pound. MUCH cheaper than the alternatives.

Be sure to get the silica instead of clay litter. You can put in cheap athletic socks if you don't have any talent at sewing.
