Yes, and more times than I care to mention I have seen a new toy - addon and spent money that should have and could have been spent on almost any thing more worthy. I think it was on CTD's web site I saw an addon for a AR-type weapon called a spade handle. I know that the spade grip/handle was/is used on heavy weapon systems such as a MaDuce. But for $499.00 something to just look cool ??? Maybe someone can point out to this ole man just what in the heck.

You just need to start seeing the world in Title II. :D

Think along the lines of an RDIAS or a RR, plus a beta mag or a Shrike belt-fed, a tripod or vehicle mount and some cash to throw at all of it. Might prove to be pretty doggone fun! :p

I noticed that too, and I'd have more fun shooting an M16 type weapon the way it was designed.

boricua9mm has it right. If you have a full-auto M-16 you could get Beta-C mags or a belt-fed kit and a tripod and play like you've got a crew-served weapon.

Lots of money to put all that together, but an M2 or 1919 or whatever is lots of money, too.

I predict we see this on Sons of Guns next season.

I honestly said that aloud when I seen it in the CTD catalogue.

Why? Why not? This is one time where "Because!" is a perfectly acceptable answer.

I guess it is no dumber than the bump fire stocks that seem to be all teh rage. I would not spend my money on one but if someone else wants to that is thier right. There are a lot of things I don't like and would never spend money on, but others would do so willingly. That is fine by me.

I predict we see this on Sons of Guns next seasonYeah, but that guy will weld it to brackets that also have a 12ga and an AK mounted to them, and call it something goofy and act like he designed a new gun.

At least with those, you can still shoulder and fire the weapon as it was designed when you want to.

Only use I could see for this would be an LEO mounting a rifle on a vehicle, and that would still be better served by a partner with a shouldered AR ninety percent of the time.

ROBERT, I have one of the bump fires that I traded for. Even though I can now afford to waste money if I so choose, there is no way in heck I would pay $369.00 for one of those. I tell my wife I'm spending any inheritance my kids think is coming their way. At least with bump fire you can actually accomplish something the spade handles are something I just can not understand any need for even for laughs. If I wanted to do something like that I think my work shop could turn out a very close example.

And I can't understand why someone would buy or trade for a bump fire stock. See, same thing. People do strange things with their money. But that is the thing, it is their money and they can pile it up and burn if they want to. It does not have to make sense to me.

any need for
Since when is need a requirement? If they want one that is reason enough.

If they had an appropriate emoticon for what I think of this product, the high road would no longer be family friendly. That said, who am I to say what is reasonable and what isn't? If someone wants to spend their money on one of those things then let them do what they want to. They are entitled to enjoy it as much as I am entitled to my disdain.

I was flipping through my new CTD catalog when I came across this little gem.
It adds spade grips to an AR 15. I think this is just silly.

Spade grips circumvent many state assault weapon laws which specify "shoulder-fired" as a necessary feature for a firearm to fall under a banned definition.

Silly laws beget silly solutions. :)

I don't get it, what's the point of that contraption on a semi-auto AR other than to look really really stupid?

And to think someone would spend $499 on that!

The franklin armory one might be CA ok, but the one from ctd is not. CTD's version still has an "evil" pistol grip sticking out under the receiver.

I really wanna see some fool either shoot this will both hands out front, unsupported (or with a chest-rig LOL :barf:) or better yet, with the pistol-grip in the one hand, and the "thing" in the other pushing the button. Some of the ideas floated here suggest there could be a use for these things, but you gotta think realllllly hard to justify it...(still better than the Glock bayonette :D)(edit: or the "close quarters combat" spiky muzzle thingies...that's NOT what the muzzle is for )
