Curious as to what they did with the hammer spring when making that finger knotch.
Mean while the "modern BP Defensive pistol " crowd should tale a look at that.

They did nothing to the hammer spring. The grinding to reshape the grip was done on the outside of the grip frame.

Chop the barrel further, down to 2.5" or 3" and put a conversion cylinder in it.
Install a spring loaded detent ball in the cyl pin and remove the rammer assembly.
Would make a sweet Bulldog.
This makes me want to buy another 5.5" Pietta and fire up the bandsaw, lathe, and mill.
