I appreciate all the help I got in the thread I started on reloading first steps, unfortunately I won't be able to start till I get more space where I can have undivided attention. I hope this thank you is alright, I saw it on reddit. I figured the brass while a ton if split between people could keep reloaders happy for a long long time...especially 50 bmg, 7.62 NATO, and others,

7 tons of 50BMG brass will yield someone a lot of money. I was thinking you had to destroy them like a lot of the liquidations but this one is free and clear.

Nope the only ones needing to be destroyed seem to be the 40mm and other grenade launchers. Rifle and handgun bullets are fine.

A lot of the scrap guys follow these auctions. I know because I tried to bid on a lot one time but the price sky rocketed up quickly so I had to walk.

Will all of that .50 BMG ship in a medium flat rate box? :D

I figure the best thing would be to work in a group. That way people can pay more than the scrap buyers, and pay less individually by buying as a group.

Been there done that. Lot of work to run a group buy. Its sort of like herding kittens. Most everyone wanted 308. 308 was the smallist quantity in the buy. Most would offer to buy a set amount of brass at a set price. Most wanted it Cheap, Cheap. Few were interested in 5.56mm but would take it if it ment they could get a deal on 308. .50 was eaven a harder sell and was the bulk of the buy. 9mm no one wanted. Luck was with me and I got way over bid and lost out. But I did get to spend a month answering questions and working the details out as best I could. We never had to deal with transporting it, sorting it, shipping it and the inevitable complaints that were bound to show up.

Lessons learned from this?

Do it on your own and sell at market prices.

Group buys are a ton of work.

Get the deatails worked out compleatly and have your group in place.

Make sure the group will commit the money up front in a holding account. Nothing sucks worse then having to make up a couple of thousand on your own to finish the deal out.

Group buy? I don't want to run one but if you get it going and there is a good deal on 308? I might be in for a few K. As long as the price is right.

Best
WB
