Okay, what shotgun brand do you have the most of?
MCgunner
June 7, 2012, 06:43 PM
There's a revolver thread along these lines running. Me, I have had only ONE brand each out of 6 shotguns for a while, now. I finally got another Mossberg. one of 'em is either a Remington or a Baikal however you wanna look at it. Yeah, it's really a Biakal. All Remington did was stamp their trademark on it. Now days, with the decline of a GREAT firearms name, Remington, that's probably a good thing. Nothing saddens me in the firearms world so much as to see how Remington has declined. I figure they're making money, just wish they could make quality firearms again. Feel free to list your collection.
Anyway
2 Mossberg pumps..... both 12 gauge
1 Winchester auto....12 gauge
1 Remington/Baikal SxS.... 20 gauge
1 Sarasqueta SxS.... 12 gauge
1 H&R single shot.... 10 gauge
1 Iver Johnson single shot... 16 gauge
Not sure if it counts....TC Contender 10" .45 Colt/.410 Fun, but useless other than having fun.
More in the future, i'm sure. I hope to add a QUALITY O/U sometime in the future, probably with "Browning" stamped on it. Then I'll have all the action types covered except some like bolt guns that I care nothing about.

I also have several older pumps, SXS's doubles etc. that are not part of my regular hunting rotation, but belonged to relatives. I do have a SXS that my dad "liberated" from Germany in 1945 that goes duck hunting at least once a season.

I currently own an old 870p and an Ithaca 37 DSPS.
I've had a Stoeger Outback (sold it foolishly even though it wasn't fantastic)
I had an 870 Express (my first shotgun, and traded it off for the 870P...good choice)
The Ithaca is my favorite: I'm a southpaw and it was owned by a friend. If I ever manage to wear it out/retire it, I have a feeling I'll be picking up another just like it.

Searching for the home defense gun, looking for an older 870 that I can cut down or order a short barrel for.
Ones I have had:
Mossberg 500 no problems just really light gun for 3 inch mag duck loads
Remington 870 Special Field, gave it to the kid down the street who had his eyes on it. Wish I had it back 21 inch barrel 870 controls what is not to like?
Benelli Nova Tactical, just did not get along with it and I thought it was clunky and blocky. It did always fire however, just did not fit me.

Three-way tie for me, I only have three so far, all in 12 gauge (photo at bottom)
1 Winchester- my first shotgun soon as I was old enough. It's a model 1912 (or model 12? which is correct?), with poly-choke adjustable muzzle-choke, bought it for $190 many years back, it's in great shape
1 Remington 870 wingmaster- two barrels short and long. I love the furniture on this scatter-gun,
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7212/7170366347_7b15b7a088_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8158/7170366059_bfdb49eb0f_z.jpg
and 1 Mossberg 500- I had already shot a friend's 'Berg many times, and found mine brand new in a clearance sale for much less than I usually see them go for, I couldn't pass it up. Glad I bought it too, 100% reliable, and I don't care if I scuff up the plastic stocks. It's my 'beater' but that doesn't mean I abuse it, I take good care of it :)
here's the only photo I have of all three of 'em, (cropped from a much bigger photo of all my long-guns)
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7078/7355523046_3df5e4803f_c.jpg
as I was previewing my post, it occurred to me to share a simple idea: in my photo you can see I use an elastic shell-holder on my mossberg. I used to have to adjust it after shooting, as it would eventually slide forward. A stupidly simple solution to this annoyance was to unscrew the buttpad just enough to scootch some of the elastic between the stock and the pad, then re-tighten it back up. Now the elastic carrier stays put :)

I only have 2.
But the Remington is because my dad swore by them and he had a couple. The Pedersoli BP double is 'just because.'
Anytime anyone asks me about shotguns I start with the 870. I've borrowed the Winchester model 24 in the safe safe a time or two.. I just don't shoot it as well as my 870 styled "Sportsman 12 Magnum"

No need to justify black powder, is all about classy and cool...and, well, fun. :D
Nice to see so many Winchesters. I expected the Mossberg/Remington fans to dominate, but I didn't expect to see so many Winchesters. The M12s are classics, of course. The 1300 is a REALLY nice pump, great design, and under-appreciated IMHO. I don't have one, SIL does. I have a 1400 and I could say the same thing about it, too. That 1400 is so soft on the shoulder, sweet to shoot. I don't even need a recoil pad on the thing. The higher pressure rounds I shoot at waterfowl with it seem to attenuate recoil even more. It's a sweet gun, lightest recoil 12 gauge I have ever fired, which includes other gas guns. It does fit me rather well, probably good for some of that recoil attenuation.

It's my only Winchester and it's my bird and clays gun. I can shoot skeet all afternoon with no problem. Not something I can do with a pump, thanks to an older shoulder injury.
And it just points.
