I read the can, and it is recommended for stainless automatics and slides. Is it safe to use on non-stainless metal? Will it cause any problems if I use it on my non-stainless automatic slides?

Thanks.

Won't hurt a thing. It is suitable for greasing any gun regardless of construction or materials.

Thanks. I figured as much. Just curious why they would distinguish it for use with stainless guns.

Thanks. I figured as much. Just curious why they would distinguish it for use with stainless guns. They claim it has an ingredient designed specifically to prevent galling, a wear mechanism seen only in stainless guns. I use Rig on all my stainless guns mixed about 50-50 with FP-10. It is superb as a lube and stays put.

Rig +P is good stuff. I've been using it for almost 25 years. Works just as well on blued steel as stainless.

BTW: A little bit goes a long way...

RIG +P is designed for stainless steel to prevent galling AND for applications where there is high pressure such as hinge pins of an O/U shotgun . It works fine!

+P was recommended to me by the local smith for my carbon steel 1911. Works great. According to the smith an added bonus is that it, or any grease, effectively tightens the slide to frame fit and improves accuracy slightly. I have not done any testing, but cannot argue against the idea. I strongly recommend a syringe such as sold by Brownell's (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1056&title=RE-USABLE+SYRINGES). Single syringes are available at many gunstores.
