Dear THR
I own a VBob. I would to know what other members think of VBobs. Are they built well enough to be worth the price? I know their price is no where near the price of custom pistols, but then they themself are not custom either. I am not even sure why some of these custom 1911s are called custom when most are not custom made to order for certain person.

Anyway what are your thoughts on Vbob?
Thanks.

You own an exceptionally fine pistol. In my opinion the Dan Wesson/CZUSA 1911A1s are easily the match of pistols selling for hundreds of dollars more.

I own one. I also collect full house customs.

The Dan Wesson line of pistols like the VBOB and Valor are almost up there with Wilson Combat, Les Baer and other semi-custom guns. Most pistol shooters won't notice any difference when shooting them or owning them over the decades. IMHO, they are better than any of the Kimbers pumped-out of their Custom Shop.

I consider the VBOB to be a higher end production gun rather than a off the shelf "custom" gun. All in all I think they are equal to guns that cost hundred more and are the best deal in their price range.

From my experience, if I was buying a non-custom 1911, I would go with the Dan Wesson if I couldn't find the right Colt. The DW's are very nice.

The Dan Wesson Valor (2010 & newer IIRRC) has tool steel small parts, not MIM.

If the VBob also has tool steel small parts then yes it is worth extra over less expensive pistols that have MIM components, plastic MSH, slick front strap.

I have a Valor and it was / is tightly fitted and reliable (Tripp 7 round mags)

IMO no. Price now is so close to a Les Baer while the reputation has not (yet) kept up. In time the value might approach or exceed the price though. They are a nice 1911 indeed, but a better value in early 2011.

Its about as nice a 1911 pistol you can get without going custom.
